I read good things about the Tuesday fish & chips special at Garbo’s – $14 instead of $24 – but I never expected a fried filet the size of my forearm. Couldn’t even finish all the fries. Probably a big enough plate for two people to split over drinks (and a salad wouldn’t hurt). Watched some US Open tennis at the bar (Gaël Monfils 👏) and reminisced with the bartender about about when the place used to be Opal Divine’s. Good deal, Garbo’s! 👍

Next time, start with the smoked fish dip. Fantastic.
Is this a good deal? Honestly asking
Yes, and yes. For us the grilled lobster cheese with roasted tomato soup our go to. $30 bux for a grilled cheese is crazy…but worth it.
That seriously looks amazing.
After getting it for the kids, try the “fish and chips” either grilled or blackened. It’s delicious and a bit healthier. On the opposite end of the healthy spectrum, the lobster and mozzarella sticks are amazing little fat sticks.
I had stopped ordering fish n chips cause most places in atx give you fish sticks instead of a filet, but that looks great!
Looking big. Maybe I’ll try that next week. I just feel lazy to walk that far in hot summer.
Is that haddock or cod? Anyone know?
I recently had that too! Portion wise it was definitely for two. My problem with it was it was bland.
Fish and Chips are my love language. Please tell me it was Cod?
I’ve gotten it a few times. It *looks* great. I shockingly prefer Culver’s made to order fried fish over this. As someone else said, this is kind of bland. The breading is too much. It gets soggy and then you’re like what are we even doing here. Those fries and aioli tho.
For $14 its a good deal and like others have said, high quality ingredients and generous portions. I do also agree with others that it is quite bland and greasy. Be prepared to spice it up on your own.
Yea, just try to get it to go. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr…..

But it IS a great plate of fish & chips.
Damn this looks really good. Nice deal for $14 too.
Omg I am there next Tuesday
Looks fantastic. 🤤
Location off of Mopac?
