we retired this summer & moved near my family. & I think I did an ok job with my first batch, 5 & 1/2 1/2 pints. The 1/2 pint is in the fridge. We had some for breakfast the other day & it tasted good. I am not even sure what kind of pears these are. 3 trees on the family farm that have been there as long as anyone can remember. Guessing 80 to 100 years old. & the pears are hard as a rock even when ripe. Definitely a cooking pear. My closest guess would be a Sand pear. Second batch is in the crockpot now cooking now. Just playing with the recipe a bit. Nothing major, swapping out some sugar for brown sugar. Want to see what I can do. I am learning a lot from y’all. So a big THANK YOU!! Wish we luck with the canning process tomorrow!!
