The Best Pretzel Dogs I’ve Ever Made!

Ingredients:

16 wieners

Dough:
1 1/2 cups warm water (110F – 115F)
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
4 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup melted unsalted butter

Baking soda solution:
2/3 cups baking soda
10 cups water

Egg wash:
1 egg
1 tablespoon water

Butter brush:
3 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions:
1. Add yeast to warm water to activate the yeast.
2. Add all the dough ingredients to a bowl and mix.
3. Knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes until soft and smooth.
4. Put dough into greased bowl and cover, let rest in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Divide dough into 16 pieces and roll into thin long strips.
6. Warp dough strips around each wiener.
7. Mix all ingredients for the baking soda solution, heat up on stove and let simmer.
8. Put wrapped wieners into simmering baking soda solution for around 30 seconds.
9. Mix all ingredients for the egg wash. Apply egg wash and any toppings to the wieners.
10. Bake in 350F oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
11. Brush with melted butter and serve.
