Dr Greger suggests adding a WF fat source to meals to help absorb fat soluble vitamins.
He holds raw nuts in high regard, and has walnuts as the gold standard. However, if I find them raw, they’re a little pricey.
100g of flaxseeds are cheaper than 100g of walnuts and also beat them in most categories.
Could one just consume ground flax and avocado as fat sources, or is it important to include nuts?

I haven’t seen him say that walnuts are a “gold standard” for whole food fat sources. Perhaps among nuts, but many seeds are superior in their nutrient profiles, require less resources to produce, and are more affordable. A combination of flax, chia, and hemp hearts would be the ideal source of ALA on a budget (about 1/2-1 tbsp of each daily). Make sure you keep them in the fridge/ freezer too to prevent the fats from oxidizing (that goes for walnuts too).
