This fancy cracker company, “Raincoast Crisps”, wanted to do a collab with the small company I was working for a few years ago. They sent us a big case of little plastic packets of their crackers, like 2 or 4 or something to a packet. We were supposed to be making ice cream sandwiches with them (??) so they had to be intact, which meant we had to open hundreds of these packets to get the required number of pristine intact crackers for their order. Plastic everywhere.

The reality is that you’re paying more for that product due to the materials and labor that go into the packaging.

I’ll contemplate it whilst 10 gas burners and three gas ovens are blasting away for 16 hours a day.

I mean it obviously sucks, but that’s running a business. It feels wasteful because it is. Can’t do much about it though. Say, “yes chef” and move on.
I felt weird when I had to kill a hundred or so lobster for the first time. Didn’t feel right at first to be honest, but I slowly began to subconsciously understand I’m putting food on several hundred peoples plates, and that’s something good for the world.

We have sugar pearl waffles in cases of like 50. They’re like 3”x5”. Individually wrapped. Not only is it irritating seeing a big pile of plastic in the trash, it’s irritating as shit to unwrap each one when prepping them

Yo they peel oranges and put them in plastic containers…. We are fucked as whole
Mycocrates
I get these precooked beets in and they are vacuum sealed in small packs of three to four each bag. I have tried so many times to get a bulk pack version but they don’t offer it.

Hygiene is more important* than taking personal responsibility for the 3% of companies who cause 70+% of waste and emissions
Do what you can but don’t stress yourself with something you can actually literally do nothing about

DYK approx 80% of everything you so diligently recycle goes to landfills anyway

It’s disgusting and pointless and it’s not just the plastic.
This summer potato producers in Minnesota pumped so much groundwater that wells and trout streams started running dry. Why? Because fry-grade potatoes need to meet very specific size requirements and that means intensely heavy irrigation.
The push for unnaturally regular, consistent product has huge costs that are hidden from the consumer. It’s the plastic, it’s the production, it has to stop.

Those wrappers are fine its the plastic straws that are the real enemy .

Throw it in the ocean sea creatures evolve into loving it
Don’t even start thinking about the amount of plastic wrap kitchens burn through…
What are those?
Vac pack bags. Saran wrap. Plastic bottles. Containers.
It’s actually really shit.
That oil ain’t gonna drill itself!
