Updates on a few recent topics:
I went out to KG BBQ for lunch today to clarify the Austin Restaurant Weeks option, which evidently doesn’t exist.
Couple of people here posted about the $20 lunch on the ARW website being more than the price of a regular bowl with no other sides included.
I asked the order taker if there’s a difference between the Brisket/Veggie Bowl lunch posted on the ARW site and the regular menu bowl. She said she didn’t know they were doing Austin Restaurant Weeks and there’s no difference.
Bummer about that, so I ordered the Chicken Rice Bowl ($16) and it was fantastic!
Never had pomegranate seeds, almonds, pistachios, raisins and cinnamon combined like that but it was delicious!
Last night I went to West Campus to try Malaysian food at Wee’s Cozy Kitchen. It’s inside a gas station/convenience store on 24th St. and had been mentioned here a few times.
Miss Wee was a wonderful host. I told her I am not too familiar with Malaysian food and she talked me through the picture gallery of menu options. She said December will be two years for her business. Had the Seafood Nasi Lamak ($20). It’s a unique mix of things I don’t normally see together (dried anchovies, peanuts, fried egg). Good and spicy! Most of the rice/noodle/curry dishes are around $15.
And I called Buenos Aires Cafe to confirm they are back open. The person who answered the phone said they had an electrical issue yesterday, no air-conditioning, and it wasn’t safe to be open so they were closed Wednesday. Sounds like it’s back to business as usual. ✅
