Yes, summer went out in disastrous fashion. It woke us in the middle of the night, and we rushed to secure things. We both got soaking wet and are up well into the night. 60 mile an hour winds promised to take down our tent with our seeds, and our seed starts. We are thankful that all was not lost because it looked like it was going to be.
We will assess the damage and do a video later Saturday.

  1. Hey looks like ya overdid your indian rain dance;;;lol;;;gee kinda windy there;;;not so bad here but lightning knocked down on tree and wind pushed over a dead tree;;not much rain tho;;;maybe you get a few cracks filled up so ya don't have to listen to conversations from China;;;lol;;;good luck wilth the repair and redo on damages;;;oh me;;see that pile of good dirt don't let it stay out in open too long as we have more rain for next week;;;;happy fall;;;

  2. Several snapped tree tops here, day 2 of chainsaw and wench. Sprouts in garden survived, they are just strong enough to keep root. Drove to town, few lightweight sheds tossed. Is this winter gonna be like last with dec twisters? ..sigh…

  3. Sad side effects but on a positive note ya can't get all the dust moist if you don't try blowing it all around… Just sayin.

  4. Oh my gosh sorry thank goodness most veggies okay be safe and take care hopefully weather will be better ❤

  5. Could have been much worse Jill. At least you still have some transplants that did survive. You would have lost another crop but God saw fit to spare you some food for later. I would say that is a praise! Your plastic could have blown clear away! Gut it held. God is surely watching over you and what you are growing! He is watching over YOU Jill! Hope that was enough rain to even help with the large craters in your land, so it would heal up some. Here in KY, we have not had enough rain yet, but getting some drizzle weather. Nothing like yours however. I have a LOT of trees down, and cleaning up to do but that is due to the man who came and chopped down the trees for us. It was getting to be out of control here, so I had to hire someone for the job. I got a couple bags of wheat for winter storage. Your small shelter did much better than my aluminum metal shed. Last year, a storm picked that sucker right off its foundation made of 4X4 posts and threw the shed over to our neighbors back yard. A wrangled MESS! had to scrap it and get another shed, this time with a cement foundation and made of solid wood so winds as strong as we get wont easily pick it up this time.

  6. It was brutal. Thankful for the rain, but friends have trees down, homes, vehicles damaged. 80 mph winds are bad, but at least it wasn't a tornado.

  7. Rain is what we pray for in south central Texas but that’s a torrential storm. Praying for you

  8. Im sorry you were unprepared for the " magically appeared" storm . after years of blown up storms winds toppling 300 yr old trees and threat of hurricanes. I use steel to put up anything n gave up on a patio sitting area. But dont give up God has a plan ..maybe a storm shelter is next for you?

  9. You have to be tuf❤❤ mentally and physically to survive Mother Nature in Texas. Jill, you have got this!

  10. Wow! Ya'll got a doozy for sure. That wind did a number at your place. Looks like most of your seedlings made it. Hoping the rain soaked into your ground. I saw the lighting at my house around 7:45pm when I let my dogs out for a break. I was not expecting rain and it did not seem that close. But it got louder, the wind picked up and then it poured. I did peek out the window to see if a couple of shade cloths were going to hold and decided to let it be. Lost electricity around 10:30ish for about 4 or so hours. I did see some trees in the neighborhood with damage and lots of smaller branches on the ground this morning. I am feeling thankful for the rain and cooler temps.

  11. Wow unbelievable what you have
been going through! So sorry hope you are all okay. Your Chickens & animals along with your crops. 108* one day then this

  12. sorry to see the damage from the storm (watched your later video from today first). Just wish you could send some of that about 250 miles south. Had no idea there was rain anyplace outside Houston and 59 up to Texarkana this week. Stay strong. On the broken pipe, cut it off and weld a new one on.

  13. Oh no! It did rain at your place after all! I hope that the damage was less than it seemed. And hopefully rain continues this week in a more orderly fashion. Geez Louise!

  14. That was quite the storm! Sorry about the damage to your property, but so thankful that the three of you are safe as well as your chickens & dogs.

  15. Glad you all are safe!!! Greg cinderblocks filled with sand 2 Bricks thick is on the horizon for you guys and the chickens 😮 and that's after your 2 minute shower ❤❤❤

  16. We got too, early this morning! No damage, took the shade cloth off my tomatoes for a few days Ot at least till it gets back into the 100’s which I hope it doesn’t! Glad y’all are ok! Hugs, love, and lots of prayer from a fellow Texan!

  17. Crazy times………to Hot and then Storms………Wow, why not just some good rain, without all the winds.

  18. Praise God damage wasn't worse. Looks like most of the potted plants survived. How they didn't end up blown into the next county is a miracle! 🙏🏼
