Tomato plants with “bleached” leaves. Two different dwarf varieties…. What’s going on here? Had a bad fungus gnat infestation earlier in summer but that’s resolved. In zone 9 – we’ve had some really big heat waves, but our summers are usually hot anyway. Never had such sad tomatoes!

Have also battled fungus gnats this year and seen some leaf hoppers on and off…. But that has been pretty much resolved as of a a month or two ago.

We’ve been getting lots of 100+ degree days, or consistently in the mid to upper 90s otherwise. This is a balcony garden so they get direct sun without much airflow/breeze to cool the porch down for a few hours each day, and often look at little wilty at peak sun despite watering in the morning. So that’s why I suspect heat could play a role, but this still seems odd to me, especially since the summers are always brutally hot where I live and yet I’ve never had tomato plants this unproductive and sad looking. When I pick the leaves off they are super dry and crunchy on the bleached parts. I’m stumped on what to do!
