Doesn’t get much easier than this. All you need is a crockpot, chicken breast and a bbq sauce of your choice.

Simply put the chicken breast in the crockpot and cover with sauce. Set the crockpot on low and allow to cook for 6 hours. At this time shred the chicken. You can either eat it as is, or for more flavor, put it back in the crockpot for 2 more hours. Either way, it’s a great easy meal (and leaves plenty of leftovers).

  1. Why didn’t I wash the chicken? Per the USDA: Washing raw poultry, beef, pork, lamb, or veal before cooking it is not recommended. Bacteria in raw meat and poultry juices can be spread to other foods, utensils, and surfaces. We call this cross-contamination.

Some consumers think they are removing bacteria and making their meat or poultry safe. However, some of the bacteria are so tightly attached that you could not remove them no matter how many times you washed. But there are other types of bacteria that can be easily washed off and splashed on the surfaces of your kitchen. Failure to clean these contaminated areas can lead to foodborne illness. Cooking (baking, broiling, boiling, and grilling) to the right temperature kills the bacteria, so washing food is not necessary.

  2. Try putting the BBQ sauce in afterwards and then cooking another hour. This way the sauce is thicker and not just soup.

  3. I use a mixture of chicken breasts and thighs and trim off all the fat…Sweet Baby Ray's is our favorite…after I pull the chicken out to shred, I put the sauce into a pan to cook it down to thicken it up to pour back over the chicken…

  4. Going to try this for a taco bar. Do you recommend a different sauce for taco flavored? Possibly fajita?

  5. Cool, doing that with my chicken tomorrow, then freezing it prepping for this food shortage. Now I know I can layer it in the pot.

  6. Lmao! Whata a waste of bbq! Next time use a season for pulled porke then add bbq to the sandwich! Dfq

  7. You all are ridiculous.. it’s not necessary to rinse meats that are going to be COOKED! My only thoughts… always wash hands after handling chicken.. no need to contaminate every surface you touch

  8. Try putting only one bottle in the pot to flavor the chicken then save the other bottle for when the chicken is done so the chicken is nice and saucy.

  9. Put most sauce in after it’s cooked, add half a bottle of liquid smoke as well

  10. As a single guy , I like to freeze meal size portions as well. Nice job on these recipes . Easy speezy…

  11. I’m making this now. But the sauce turned into soup like yours. Is there a way to thicken it back up?
