  1. This vid's been up a while. Made these today. They were OK. Prefer my old beat up Betty Crocker version. No harder to make. But I will be switching to melted butter rather than oil. Will try sifting the dry ingredients rather than dry fork stirring them. So thanks for those.

  2. The first time I ever made these they were good. Ive made them 3 times since then and they seemed dense for some reason

  3. You mix the WET ingredients themselves. Then you ad the liquid into the dry.
This is RULE #1 of cooking!

  4. Of all the pancake videos I've watched, OF COURSE, I should have searched for an old fashion, classic, one bowl recipe. This is the one for me and an excellent base recipe to build any pancake from. Not going to bother looking for any more pancake recipes cause I finally found the one I've been looking for.

  5. Where’s the fluffy? Those are flat cakes from runny batter. Veg spray? And for heavens sake use a griddle. Chef???

  6. I made these for my granddaughter…….she loved them! I’ve made them several times, very 😋 thank you

  7. These are great and very easy to make. However for me, the written recipe seemed to have less liquid than in the video, my batter came up thick (which I don't mind, I like a thicker pancake anyways) so be sure to add more liquid if you want the batter runnier like in the video

  8. These turned out perfect the very first time! I added blueberries and a little vanilla extract to mine. Heaven on Earth!

  9. The nostalgia I get watching this now. I (German born and raised) Made this for my husband(American born and raised) when he lived in Germany 10 years ago. Ver possible that this was partially why he married me even though he said he never wanted to marry again. I think it made his day then and I can’t wait to make them again now. Good old chef John old fashioned pancakes. 🙂 ❤

  10. Love your show, my wife and i both retired early so we had to escape california for south east Oklahoma, the two years has proven to be the right move for us, HOWEVER, food here is mostly fired even the fancy restaurants lol, so i find myself on line learning how to cook the foods we miss the most, your pancakes hit the spot this morning and your recipe along with countless others of yours has made it into my cook book. Thank you for everything.. JD

  11. On the recipe website Chef John says that he’s using exact measurement of the ingredients, but measuring flour by volume instead of weight is anything but exact. The weight of a cup of flour can vary greatly depending on who is doing the measuring, but 100 grams ia 100 grams, regardless. This explains why some of the commenters complain about their batter being too thick or too thin. Serious cooks and bakers always weigh flour, eggs, sugar etc. Get a good digital scale and learn to use it. An added benefit of weighing ingredients is convenience. You will never again have to pack brown sugar into a cup, or wonder how much chopped nuts equal a given volume.

  12. OMG those are just like my Mom made them they look the same. So now Thank you so much I can now make real pancakes the right way. YUMMY 😋 Great video and Great content 👍

  13. My mom used to make pancakes, but they were chewy. I pretty much love all pancakes!

  14. McDonald's burger king Wendy's breakfast taste better than 💩 at home. Them ol burnt pancakes pop used to fix us 😂 the pancakes at home don't taste good like IHOP McDonald's burger king french toast sticks checkers taco bell

  15. Just made these for my partner, had to replace the butter with oil since we ended up not having any, but they were the best pancakes I've ever made and they thought they were amazing!
