My biggest problem is getting whole leaves from the cabbage after I stem it.

I love cabbage rolls. I haven't had them in ages.
My sister-in-law ALWAYS made these for our family get togethers!!! WE all loved them!!! Thankfully, she gave me the recipe before she passed away. Now it's up to me and my daughter to make them. My in-laws are Syrian. So she made them the way Syrians do. Thanks for making them!!!!
Yummy. I haven't had cabbage rolls in over 30 years we had family friends when I was a kid and the wife used to make these awesome cabbage rolls they were so good that we just kept coming back for more I often wondered how she made them and now that I know I'll be making them myself

I grew up on this to but I have acid reflux so I try to stay away from tomatoes and any red sauce. Do you have an alternate sauce I could use?

Hello Catherine! HAPPY NEW YEAR! :-)) My family on both sides OFTEN MADE CABBAGE ROLLS, too, for ANY TIME OF THE YEAR! So, my recipe is similar to yours and DEFINITELY from several generations!! Since my Grandmas, Mom, Aunts n’ me,too, often canned tomatoes at summer harvest so THOSE ARE WHAT WAS USED rather than Tomato Soup! I now use canned tomatoes, diced or stewed can be used as well! Add “trinity” to them (trinity = onion, green pepper n’ celery), mix w/tomatoes and pour over the cabbage rolls! We would line the pan with the smaller leftover cabbage as those leaves are too small to make rolls! Leftover “meat filling” we’d just make the porcupines and place with the rolls! Sometimes my Grandma would add bacon to the meat mixture, too! Bacon slices could also be layered across the top of the rolls, along with any other smaller cabbage pieces or cut-up pieces! We often served with homemade (or crusty style) bread/rolls and applesauce, often homemade, too! BTW, SWEET PAPRIKA is also part of the seasoning for the meat mixture n’ sprinkled on top of cabbage at bottom of pan/baking dish or roaster, and again on top of rolls along w/parsley! They’re baked as you do! COMFORT FOOD + with Happy Memories all made with LOVE! :-))))
My Aunt used to make the sane filling but used grape leaves instead of cabbage.
I have no idea where to get grape leaves though. She was from Greece.

My name is Liam, my grandma has watched your channel for years-old. She watches on TV because she has problems with her eyes. Your cabbage rolls look, and my memes got tired of rolling and invented "Lazy Pigs " Her sauce is tomato soup. Every thing you put in your cabbage rolls would be layered in pan. Starting with sauce, thinly raw cabbage, ground beef, uncooked rice, repeat. Top is cabbage with sauce. Pan on sheet pan because cabbage releases water.

Great recipe as usual! I make mine almost the same way. I add to the tomato soup A large can of tomato sauce. Quarter and onion up and drop it in the broth with salt pepper a pinch of oregano of course, poured over my mashed potatoes with my piggies.❤

OH my goodness, my father use to make this for us. I tired to make thos and did not know I was to cook the rice first and heck I cut up the cabbage and then blanched them. It was a disaster. When he passed he took the receipt with him. Thank you, my sister has been wanting to try and make this. Now I know we will succeed!!!!!!

I never could find a written recipe for the cabbage rolls that I could save to Pinterest! One link sent me into an ad for something that I didn’t even understand, a language I have NEVER seen before. Then got lost IN Pinterest amid recipes, NONE of which belonged to Catherine. After about 30 minutes of fruitless, lost searching, I had to get completely OUT of my computer, as in crash it, to get out of where your links sent me! Worst rabbit hole I have ever been suckered into! Still never saw a recipe I could save to Pinterest, or save ANYWHER! I will never look to YouTube for recipes again!
My grandma made these it's our dish from romaina grandma had cabbage in the barrel till it sours had a rock over plate to keep it down ckd every day she always used summer savory definitely and other spices

You dont cut the hard core off of your leaves as i was first taught .
I thought you were supposed to use sauce not soup !
