Went to grab some lunch at Keifer’s Cafe and was met with a locked door and a THANK YOU sign that said they closed in August after 27.5 years. Wow, had no idea it had been around so long. The sign said Happy Retirement on it, looks like they had a good run.
I wonder if another food place will move in? It’s a really non-descript location tucked into the warehouse/office buildings at Kramer and Metric. Never knew it was there until I moved into the neighborhood.

Dang, that was a great place.
Man I used to get food there back in the early 00s when I worked at Lone Star BMW on N Lamar. RIP
open a new place and call it “southerland’s”
Crap. I never heard of this place. It looks like a place I would have liked.
Those buildings are super old and I’m guessing as Q2 continues building around it, it’ll run out the leases and eventually get demolished for some mixed use development.
Surprised it didn’t close sooner. Employees were rude as hell there both times I went.
I used to eat there when I worked at Braker Pointe sometimes. Neat little place you would not expect to be there.
Oh no; had no idea was even in trouble. Sucks; was a good spot.
Oh no! I worked in this same little strip for a few years and it was my go to during the time. I hope they enjoy retirement though, well deserved. Hope that’s the real and only reason they closed.
I liked this place but it was only open like 4 hours per day. No idea how they made money.
Aww I used to work next door. My workplace vacated permanently and went to WFH. I think a lot of the complexes there are mostly empty.
Wow. I haven’t thought of that place in years. I used to work in an office park off Metric and we’d call it Queefer’s. Memories ❤️
I worked there for about 5 years, the owner Cindy has been wanting to retire for a while now. She also owns that entire building and rents out to the other tenants. So even though the deli is closed I’m sure with the rezoning of that area that she’ll make out just fine.
I was there on their retirement day. They had a big crowd with a tonne of well wishers.
I ate there and Garden Spot Deli (also RIP) a lot in the late 90s/early 00s.
