Simple, Perfect Chili
RECIPE COURTESY OF REE DRUMMOND
Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr 40 min
Active: 30 min
Yield: 6 to 8 servings
Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef
2 cloves garlic, chopped
One 8-ounce can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup masa harina
One 15-ounce can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
One 15-ounce can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
Shredded Cheddar, for serving
Chopped onions, for serving
Tortilla chips, for serving
Lime wedges, for serving
Directions
Place the ground beef in a large pot and throw in the garlic. Cook over medium heat until browned. Drain off the excess fat, and then pour in the tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt and cayenne. Stir together well, cover, and then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. If the mixture becomes overly dry, add 1/2 cup water at a time as needed.
After an hour, place the masa harina in a small bowl. Add 1/2 cup water and stir together with a fork. Dump the masa mixture into the chili. Stir together well, and then taste and adjust the seasonings. Add more masa paste and/or water to get the chili to your preferred consistency, or to add more corn flavor. Add the beans and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve with shredded Cheddar, chopped onions, tortilla chips and lime wedges.

No explanation about those frozen bags?
What is the frozen thing you put in the pot?
This chili may have flavor but I really want to know how it is that in the video she doesn’t drain the excess fat but the recipe says too?
So you don’t drain your meat ??
That’s chili beans, chili goes on hot dogs!!!
👍😂😳🤔
Love to try 😋😍😌❤😘
No beans. Nooo!
MY favorite part was the family taking time out of their busy day to pray 🙏 and break bread or ( chili) together. Some sweet onion cornbread would have been awesome 👍😎. My family, I had 3 brothers, and my mom and dad. I was the only girl (tomboy) 🤣 but that's the one family memory is dinner together 😭. My family will feast with me in heaven with our heavenly Father 🙏. What a feast that will be 💯📖🙏😭💐
Damn, this woman can cook.
I have all her books and people think my cooking is top tier. I do have a culinary background, so making all these are a breeze and taste amazing.
Fire 🔥 🔥 🔥
You know what I like on chili? Saltines, shredded Colby jack, and Parmesan!
Bruh what did she open from a bag??
Is her Farm Okay?
great idea on best way to freeze it, taking up such little space. tks for sharing!
How much beans would you add for 2 lbs of beef ?
What chili powder do you recommend ?
Thank you awesome recipy
Mom always put molasses in hers
You need to rename your recipe to simply perfect chilli please..
I love your show but grammar mistakes are a trigger for me.
Omg masa amazing chill
In your video you show eating Purple Onion with cheddar cheese eating chili with those is good thanks
did she ever say what was in the freezer bags? was it the beans?
This is chili with beans. Simple chili is just chili, no beans.
My only "complaint" was not draining the meat. Otherwise I will add masa to my chili and see how it goes!
I followed your receipt for dinner tonight and my family loved it. My grandsons told me that it was the best chili I ever made. Thank you.
Beans? Not chili.
Thank you for your service and expertise. Loved your family scene.
That's what's life is all about.
This is exactly how I make my chili- the only difference is I add softened chopped onions and red bell peppers to mine. Serve it with some honey butter cornbread and it’s the best meal ever.
That looks good'm
Does flour work as a good alternative to the masa to thicken it up?
Anyone hep me?? No maza- how shall i handle?
What are the two frozen squares she is thawing in the pot?
If you boil the beans yourself you will get the same consistency of the Masa. So you don’t have to add masa if everything is made from scratch 😉
Also a great addition to this will be sour cream 😋😋
I hope your you using Mexican Oregano..,? Cause the difference is real
Personally I find Mex Oregano strong so very little is needed.
Is corn flour and corn starch the same thing?
Why Did I Wait So Long To Buy One??
