El Torito Café 1462 S Griffith Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90021 – cash only
Hello everyone, I went to my favorite cafe yesterday and the waitress told me that it’s been so slow they’re scared they’ll have to close! This place has been serving the area for 60 years!!
This Mexican cafe has great food at an affordable price. The waitresses and owner are sooo kind and treat you like family. It couldn’t have a better atmosphere!
My favorite things on the menus are the albóndiga soup (that comes with every combination meal m-f), the Chile relleno, the taquitos de res con guacamole, the milanesa, the papas a la mexicana and of course their coffee is absolutely incredible!!!
Please stop by el Torito cafe for breakfast or lunch, it’s cash only or Zelle, but they have an atm. You’ll be happy you went!

Did you order your eggs cooked that soft or is that the default?
These look like a meal you take an extremely nice nap after eating
Is this in comparison to other Mexican places in LA, or just saying that the place is doing poorly and needs help?
Almost positive El Torito is a chain too, we have multiple near where I live…
There are plenty of even smaller more authentic Mexican places around LA that probably also could use some money
Woah, those prices. 🥹
looks legit. thanks for posting!
Everything looks good, but I just looked them up on Google Maps and they close at 3pm?? 1pm on Saturday and closed on Sunday??
I have a job, and their hours extremely limit when I can visit them.
Sorry but this looks like a damn shame, the food I mean
Wth? They have the Ruby’s diner logo on their menu, interesting.

This is a bummer but that is a ROUGH location. I don’t blame them for closing early. Even their picture on google maps during the days shows a closed sign on the door.
If you’re down for this spot, El Patrincito on Venice Blvd. is also worth your visit.
I cannot possibly be the only person who thought for a second that OP was pulling for the El Torito chain restaurant lol. Fully expected to open the thread and see a bunch of people raging in the comments. Absolutely rooting for a little shop like this to do great things!
Their pancakes are pretty freaking amazing! I love coming here for breakfast
This food doesn’t look very good. Or honestly very Mexican.
Can’t believe this gem is on here. The albondigas is amazing. And it’s cash only with little parking if you go.
Man, when Chips and a Chile Releno is cheaper than chips and cheese…
Those prices are so good! The local news outlets should capture this story.
Looks good but can’t do those hours
LOVE moderately priced, stomach-filling Mexican food! And only 2 miles from my place. Definitely going there this weekend now!
Don’t want a city where every place is trendy, a burger cost $30 with a 25% service charge.
Cash only might be hurting business
That food looks so good
What’s the dish called in the second picture?
Man trust me they aren’t the only ones. A lot of small businesses are struggling recently. Low turnout and customers seem to be spending less. I know a couple food trucks who have closed down due to cost. I’ve seen some of them move to selling on the street since then they don’t deal with the city, reduce cost, and they sell more (people love street food and watching it be cooked/prepared). It’s really hard for some businesses to keep prices low while meat prices keep rising.
I hope they do well and hopefully they survive another 60 years.
Those eggs aren’t cooked well. Did you order under-done?
Good to know!
It doesn’t look that great.
It looks more like they need help with their food.
Those are some big portion!!
Do they have pozole??
