There was a place near Steubenville, Ohio named “Happy’s” that had an insanity wing challenge where you had to eat either 12 or 15 wings (I can’t remember exactly) that were tossed in Dave’s Insanity sauce. Dave’s has a great line of sauces outside of the Insanity sauce. My favorite being the Dave’s Creamy Habenero.

Like the heat, hate the taste.
amazing_rando
I think Dave’s served its purpose back in the 90s and 00s when ghost pepper had an almost mythical status and superhots hadn’t been bred yet. These days I don’t have much of a reason to use extract sauce when I can get equivalent heat with real chile flavor.
flyingbarnswallow
I think it tastes awful. I’ve used it to spice up dishes that had some powerful other flavors to hide the taste, but I eventually decided it wasn’t worth it and tossed the remaining half of the bottle.
I like my heat but I’d rather my food taste how I like.

All the time.

This stuff is nasty. I use it as a challenge sauce for noobs
zigaliciousone
This was one of the only decent sauces of its kind in the 90s but the industry has dozens of sauces that are both hotter and taste better nowadays.
That said, their scorpion pepper is pretty great.
Pegomastax_King
It’s a classic been around since the 90s. The flavor is not great though.

Total insanity is a better sauce

Dave’s is the hottest thing in my fridge, Dave’s is also the worst tasting thing in my fridge.
Capital-Classic957
It’s ok

I just started increase my heat and came across the Dave’s Carolina Reaper sauce and the heat is very nice. The flavor isn’t too bad, but it isn’t great either.
Can y’all recommend some better tasting sauces with similar heat profile.
GraemeMakesBeer
It’s handy for upping the heat level
HamMasterJ
Dave’s is too heavy on the extract taste and experience for my personal tastes
mako1287
The original scorpion sauce had good flavor and heat, everything else I buy the pepper extract flavor is terrible
BigJ43123
Hot as shit, but also tastes like shit.
hellonhac
it is very hot. but the flavor is not awesome. good for making sauces and chili etc spicier, but not a good one to put directly on food imo.

When I was a teenager I would put this stuff on public bathroom handles and listen to the muffled cries of agony behind the door and laugh until my sides hurt. It did a good job polishing the metal handles but tasted like mud, thank god for the hot sauce renaissance.
AbeFalcon
I add it into stuff to bump the heat. It’s been a go to of mine since like 07 lol
Potato-nutz
I really like the ghost pepper and the Carolina reaper sauce. The insanity tastes a little like bbq sauce to me. But the others I can just put right in my soup…excellent brand. Reliable Heat!
Potential-Team-185
I’ve been into hot sauces for a few years now, and I have to admit I’m still a lil wuss when it comes to heat. I do like this sauce, but I mostly add a bit into batches of food to up the heat a bit and hopefully raise my tolerance some lol. Regardless, it’s a quality sauce
BigManRunning
I tried this once. Now I use it to keep rats from chewing my barrels.
Passive_Menis_
My personal limit for heat.
IntermittentFaster90
I think this is the worst-tasting hot sauce I’ve ever tried. Dave’s Ghost Pepper Sauce is essentially as spicy and tastes better.
cause_of_chaos
I’ve bought most of the Dave’s sauces. This one is okay, I don’t think the flavour is too special though. The ghost pepper sauce is the best one they do IMO!

No, pranks only

I mix it with dukes and it makes a solid sandwich spread. Maybe a couple dashes of Nature’s seasoning.
blackandgold96
It’s definitely hot but I don’t like the taste of it.

They were at one time known as the hottest in the world. I tried this in the early 90’s and it still kicks my ass. Many pranks played with this too

I like it one drop at a time on chilli, or stews.
I use and love their ghost pepper sauce.
