Thank you! I´ll be careful next time with the temperature of the pan (I think it was on medium). The butter separated, as soon as the sugar melted. My first thought was – too much butter?! But it was the amount, that Laura said. I was stirring all the time, yes. I don´t know what was wrong? 🙁
Anyone can answer, please. If the alcohol burns off, what is the purpose of adding it? Just curious. Does it impart flavor? if yes, does it still taste like rum?
It adds more flavor. Yes it has a rum-my after taste, but it doesn't sting like it would if it was full alcohols. Its purpose is like adding cinnamon, or salt– just a taste thing.
These are sooooooooooo good! I loved it so much, I loved the combination of cold with warm and it was sweet and delicious! Also I did it without rum and turned out great
I've been watching her videos for years, one of my all time favorites. Even though done of her recipes differ slightly from mine, I think she's amazing. But on rare occasion, I disagree. This is one of those times. The rum is not optional. If you can't use the rum, choose another dessert.

Does it have to be a certain proof of rum or does the usual 70-80 proof do the trick?
This is possibly the only episode of Laura in the Kitchen where she doesn't say it is simple or easy.
can u show how to make banana pancakes
Hi may I know, cinnamon as in the spice you use to cook or cinnamon as in cinnamon sugar?
actually what you just said has been proved to be a myth on food detectives.
34 people liked this so much, they had to turn their screen upside down to like it again!
Just be careful when cooking with fire!!

wait..what if I'm under 18 or not used to cooking with fire? could you go over it again? ._.
Don't be like Will on The Fresh Prince and burn the kitchen down, LOL!
What purpose does the alcohol serve? (other than looking cool when ignited)
what temperature do we cook at? or dial location (low, medium, high) rather? Does it stay at the same temperature the whole time?
I seen this recipe on Cutthroat Kitchen, thanks Laura in the Kitchen, for the easy recipe .. minus the Rum for my kids..
I actually only ever seen bananas foster served with pancakes!! Gonna try it over ice cream later and thanks Laura for the recipe 🙂
That's easy enough, I think I'll try it tomorrow. Graci!
Laura….Love ya your gorgeous! But enough warnings about the igniting the rum part..You mentioned caution about 6 times
That would be good on some waffles or pancakes!!!
Be careful, kids, but the rum is most certainly NOT optional.
can I substitute rum with a good quality cognac?
You're right it tastes just as good without the rum……really good
