El Abuelo Mexican BBQ is located 150 Haverland Dr. in Georgetown and is open 8 am till sold-out (around noon) Saturdays and Sundays. They sell lamb barbacoa prepared Hidalgo-style wrapped in maguey leaves and low and slow-cooked in a homemade fire pit. The lamb is pretty much au natural, no heavy spicing or seasoning (not in chile based sauce), just salt, perfume from the maguey leaves, and smokiness from the cooking method. It’s super tender, unctuous, fatty, and delicious. You can get barbacoa tacos, a pound to go (comes with tortillas, red and green salsas, chopped onions, cilantro, and limes for $25), consomé, or if you like, other lamb barbacoa-related offerings like montalayo (stomach and innards). The salsas are also delicious. Find and follow them on Facebook for more details. I’ve gone on two different Saturdays, and it was an amazing meal both times. Both times I also got a pound to go so the lambtastic party could continue, too.

Can’t locate it on Google maps with the information provided. Everybody doesn’t have a Facebook or Instagram page.
Please tell them to register their business with Google maps. Its free.

thanks for sharing. My first experiences with barbacoa were lamb, prepared on weekends at private homes when I lived in LA. Love beef too(and goat when I can find) but lamb consomme hits extra hard if you’re a lamb lover.
