Curious what you think those are “battered” in?

Golden Chick. The rest of their food is just ok but I’m here for the fries.

Hyde Park Grille is the reigning champ in this town. Revelry also had some good ones last time I went there.

Hyde Park Bar and Grill. Their battered fries have made several national Best Of lists. Pretty decent happy hour as well

Hyde Park has always been my fave. Gonna miss their south location.

Legitimately Dell Children’s hospital. Unfortunately you do have to be a patient, or visiting, or an employee to get them

Majors Burger House in Liberty Hill, best fries I’ve ever had

Rusty Cannon has really good fries, and on Mondays they do .50 cent wings!

Mangia (at least they used to) have the best, even giving Hyde Park a run for their money. Great dipping sauce comes with Mangia fries. Several locations closed over the years but I think there is still one!

Hyde Park Bar & Grill for the win, here. 41 years and still kickin it. Also, bring back jalapeño jelly.

    Honestly, Dairy Queen.

    But also Hyde Park

I honestly did not think there were people who actually like battered fries (I hate them) – but it’s cool to see that people do! Hope you find the best ones in the city.

  13. If I’m remembering correctly I believe Saltlicks fries (both sweet potato and regular waffle fries) are battered as well as Mama Fried, Launderette, work horse (sweet potato), Hyde park, z tejas (Avery Ranch)… double check me on these as I might be mid-remembering but these are all the ones o can think of

Further out but …there’s a Lebanese food truck, Leyla’s, on Hamilton Pool Road. Excellent food in general, but also just absolutely excellent battered, seasoned fries!

  15. The only acceptable answer for Austin is Hyde Park. You can get battered fries anywhere but these are special from the seasoning to the dipping sauce. They also still taste like ACTUAL potato and not just “fried” flavor. Unfortunately most of the food there is just not good but just get the fries and a wom Kim peach pudding and you’ll be set!

I recently ate at Rusty Cannon Pub – BOGO burgers on Wednesday’s – but their battered fries were pretty damn good. Crispy and flavorful. I was impressed – get a side of mayo and dip in that and ketchup baby.

  18. Taterque in pflugerville. They sell potatoes and bbq. They have a kind of battered fry that is pretty good..

  19. I don’t know what happy chicks puts on their fries but *chefs kiss*

If you want a fun road-trip, Alamo Springs Cafe out towards Fredericksburg has awesome battered fries and giant burgers. Just around the corner from Old Tunnel State Park (old train tunnel full of bats)

If you’re south, backspin has some pretty solid battered fries, but HPBG is the answer

What-a-Burger. No, not the chain, but a small hole in the wall burger joint in Whiteville, North Carolina. Get your burgers and dogs from Wards Grill up the street and get your battered fries from What-a-Burger.
