Question please. This is a replacement, my first presto would not vent/seal properly and this is my replacement. I inspected the lid and seals carefully, washed it up and ran two batches last night, first use. Turned out perfectly, no liquid loss/siphoning, seemed good. This morning after washing the body once it was nice and cool I noticed this at the base. I am wondering if the base is compromised or defective? It held pressure perfect, I had nearly the same 3 quart in when it was completed, I ran it at about 6 on the stove dial to keep the jiggler rocking and 11psi. I don’t think I created this, it had to have been there. I don’t really feel the depression but it seems pretty visual and concerns me a bit for something that will be pressurized for years to come. Also are Presto canners notorious for loose handles on the base? Original and replacement both have this handle issue. I need to get some more jars done, if it should be replaced by manufacturer, should it be safe for a few more runs because I really can’t wait again? Thanks for any insight canning community!

Wow that does not look right even if it feels flat on the bottom. Here is a pic of mine, same 23 qt induction. I would definitely notify Presto, email them a pic. I have had 3 Presto canners, 2 reg & 1 induction, and none had either issue. The handles on mine are perfectly tight and I’ve had it for 4 or 5 years now. Mine is perfectly flat on the bottom. I cannot help but wonder if they, like so many other companies, are having manufacturing problems.

this looks just like local surface corrosion which is giving it the appearance of a dent. If you don’t feel any actual deformation I wouldnt be concerned personally. Could just be an artifact or inconcistency in their surfacing process that made this spot more likely to oxidize and refract light differently
