Planning to go to Queen’s night market for the first time next Saturday.
Going solo, so limited in the amount of things I can try.
What are the must have from the huge vendor list?

What do you like/dislike? Are you looking for new to you food? or just the best items?
I lean in the direction of having more uncommon items while there. So no meat on sticks, no tornado potatoes, minimal bubble tea, etc.
* Moon Man – lovely Indonesian desserts, cool because he’s one of the people that really got a start at QNM. * Joon – Persian stews over rice, the unique aspect is that the rice is fried in muffin tins so each serving gets crispy rice bottom. The stews are good, not amazing, but also another one of the QNM OGs. * Emeye Ethiopian Cuisine – We need more Ethiopian food in NYC. * There was someone selling (I think) Indian street food, they had panipuri with a couple pomegranate arils in each shell, that was well worth it (that was the dish that jumped out at me the most).
Bring (lots of) water, get there early, do a scout around and see who’s getting lines quickly and go for that first, then eat your food while waiting on the next line.
On lines: ‘follow the crowd’ is not a good method, every year I’ve found my favorite thing came from a stall with a minimal line, and the giant lines are often for ‘wow’ items (tornado potato /eyeroll) and meat on sticks (always a favorite, but not exactly hard to get excellent versions elsewhere in the city).
This isn’t to say that anything with a line isn’t worth it, most of them are (The Ethiopian place had a massive line), and by the middle of the evening everything will have a big line.
Enjoy 🙂

Oh man so many worthwhile things. Burmese Bites although they have a Brick and Mortar location at Queens Center mall. Like the Peruvian Ceviche although I went a couple weeks ago and they weren’t ready to go at opening and they were prepping a batch and it felt like the flavors need some time to marinate with each other so something to keep in mind. Trinidad Bake and Shark. Ethiopian Injera. Moonman dessert sampler if you have room left.
1 popular vendor that won’t be there this weekend is the Joon Persian Rice. It’s alright but I haven’t felt like I had to repeat.

I really liked the Egyptian kofta on pita! My baby wouldn’t eat the Venezuelan corn pancake with cheese and chicken but I did- happily 😊

I absolutely loved the Nihari at Halal Coocos Den. It’s a North West Indian/ Pakistani dish. The lady made the naan fresh and it’s as authentic as you can find
I really liked Joon as well if you like Persian food
Would also recommend the Sierra Leone food vendor.. I had the Okra which I enjoyed a lot although I appreciate it’s not for everyone
Highly recommend going early and trying a few things.. It would be great to go with a bunch of people (to try more food) but if not solo is still fun

There’s an ecuadorian pernil sandwich that’s super good, can get it with this amazing coconut drink. I think this year might be their first year doing queens night market? Love them though

Sichuan Ice Jelly. I’ve been dying for it since the last time I went, but I am literally ten months pregnant so I don’t think I’ll be making it back to the market this year. 😭😭😭

The sisig at the filipino stall is really good, and worth your $5. There’s a lot of food items there that charge 5 bucks but the portions are tiny. This is actually decent size.
Try also the various dumplings there, like the Afghani mantu or the Tibetan momos.
