Wonton Hut is solid, good service as well.

This was one of the best of this type of article I’ve seen in a while. He didn’t pick the obvious spots and focused on both explaining the dishes and giving them context

I can co-sign SunStar and the Chengdu place

Not the usual boring white bro chef coverage.
Been going to sun star since the 2000s, it’s legit.

Really solid list for North York. These are great intro dishes for those unfamiliar with Chinese Cuisine too.

Scarborough has better Chinese.

Had no idea there was a good wonton noodle shop on Queen, gotta check it out now.

A nice shoutout to Sun Star. I can’t remember the last time I went here honestly, but I have very vivid memories of eating there when I was younger and having really tasty seafood.
These old school 小炒/Siu Chow or stir fry restaurants are definitely a dying breed. Every few years a new one pops up at least (Flavorful House in Markham is the most recent one I think), but I do worry about the future of these places without a newer influx of chefs.
