I splurged on some takeout for me and a friend at Kebabilicious and I guess my order usually is under $50 because they tacked on a 15% service charge after my food total came out to $52… and that was not including tax or tip. I was kindve taken aback because the lowest tip option on their screen was 15% and I considered hitting the ‘custom entry’ button to go lower because the service charge just seemed pretty arbitrary. I’m usually happy going 25% tip and never lower than 20% – but I felt like the service charge was a bit ridiculous at that price, especially when a wrap there is $15 already. I still went with 15% for tip but ealized I’m paying 36% over the food total and that just rubbed me the wrong way.
I love Kebabilicious, the falafel is unreal and they have really good customer service but this seems like overkill and left a bad taste in my mouth as a regular customer. For future visits I’m going to be adding up my order total before I fire off so I don’t break the $50 threshold.
I found it weird but maybe I’m wrong?

This is a situation where you don’t tip.
Yeah I’d view that like gratuity being added at a sit down restaurant for a large party. I wouldn’t have added tip
$50 is a 2 person meal at fast casual these days
Absolutely do not tip
Excellent. The tip was automatically included so you don’t have add any extra.
Different store/brand, but I think Kebab shop has a 10% discount if you use self-checkout. First time I used the cashier not knowing, weird system.
What if you guys each ordered $26 of food 🤔
That’s super disappointing to see. Kebabalicious is one of the OG places that hasn’t marked up their prices. Wow… shame on them
It’s hard NOT to spend over 50 bucks if you go with a partner etc.
Added: do you think Keb* still expects a tip?
Why are we upset about this? 15% tip automatically added, no need to tip.
first of all, adding your own tip is literally never mandatory. places usually add mandatory service charge for large parties or large amounts specifically because of this. you absolutely do not need to tip extra on top of a mandatory service charge
People need to start making their own food at home.
I would split up my order into multiples.
