According to this [project filing](https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/TABS/Search/Print/TABS2023000407), Yukai Japanese Restaurant is coming to 1717 W 6th St — the former location of Third Base and Cover3. [This short article](https://whatnowaus.com/new-japanese-restaurant-to-open-in-downtown-austin/) is from a year ago. Perhaps it’ll be open by the end of the year or soon after. Side note, the new Austin Pickle Ranch is located on the top floor of the parking garage.

I guess I can stop holding out hope that Cover 3 would one day reopen
On the list of prominent empty restaurant spaces around Austin this is one that always comes to mind, I drive by so often. I vividly remember going to Third Base to watch the playoff series when the “We Believe” Warriors upset the Mavs in 2007. Then it was Cover 3 but it never seemed to have the same big time sports bar atmosphere.
Also wonder about the former Sushi Zushi space at the Domain and the space at 6th and Red River where El Sol y La Luna used to be. Those places ever coming back to life?
