Say it ain’t so Joe.
I flipped out when I saw this on the shelf at Trader Joe’s and should have left it there. Ok taste, but very little heat. I’m not sure about anyone else out there, but I’m getting tired of being repeatedly disappointed when products put ‘extra hot’ on their labels and it’s nowhere near what it’s advertised to be.

My coworker makes pico de gallo/fresh salsa as a side hustle. Ive tried his salsas and told him i like spicy stuff. His usual “hot” variety is made with thai chilis and is quite tasty, but not particularly hot. He made an “extra hot” recently with habanero and it was good, but somehow tasted less spicy than the thai one. I made the mistake of telling him i didnt find it terribly spicy, so the next batch he made me was with ghost pepper lol.
Actually good heat and just as flavorful! The first bite burned quite a bit but the rest was a comfortable heat.
In my experience. If a brand or retailers income or products line is less than 90% hot sauce, salsa, or spicy snack. There is a 90% chance its not spicy when they claim it is.
I bought this when it first went on shelves and it was FIRE. Super spicy and good flavor. That was several months ago and they have toned down the spice so so much that it’s pretty boring now unfortunately
Yeah I actually love this salsa and it’s my go to. I do feel like it used to be spicier though.
It’s like they’re trying to market to people like us who like spicy, but at the same time don’t want to kill people with actual spicy.
