One thing we like to do when visiting a foreign city is to explore traditional markets. It gives us a chance to glimpse into the lives of people going about their day-to-day activities.
The sijangs (시장) that most tourists visit in Seoul are probably Gwangjang Market (famous for the “Netflix Lady” kalguksu store) and Mangwon Market (where you can find all sorts of Korean street food).
In an attempt to experience the atmosphere of a truly local sijang, we decided to head further east to Yongdu-dong. Where the Gyeongdong Market is located, deep within the neighbourhood of Dongdaemun-gu.
