I remember reading the restaurant would re-open at some point but haven’t seen updates, other than this note on the Yelp page: “Pacific Dining Car is temporarily closed. Scheduled to reopen on June 24, 2024.”

I hope it reopens.
I moved here in 2010 and always wanted to try it.
This was the very old school place that was inexplicably open at all hours, right?
I hope this is real. I used to go to the Santa Monica one. It’s not the best value, but it’s the best meal you’ll get after midnight. And the soufflé was always on point imo.
Few places have matched the disappointment of eating here. Everyone should have that opportunity.

More than 10 years ago, it was great food that was very expensive, and the service at the bar was fabulous.
Since then, it was mediocre food but it was absurdly expensive, and unremarkable bar service.
Last year they had a big auction of most of their restaurant furnishings and kitchen equipment from the Downtown location. A buddy of mine bought a few of the wall sconces and one of the iconic booths for his man cave. If they do reopen, the place will look very different
