Damn, I just drove by and thought, “I’m glad they survived the pandemic.” A lot of good memories there.

Damn. That’s a huge, beautiful space too. I hope someone snaps up that space and that it isn’t empty long.

One of my favorite places for years prior to the pandemic. I went a few times after they opened back up and unfortunately the quality just never came back. Hearing that they expanded their non-vegan menu was my first indication that they were struggling. It still is one of the best beer focused bars in LA btw.

Damn! They had a great happy hour pre-pandemic. Admittedly I haven’t been since, but definitely have some good memories there.

I had one of the worst dates I ever had at that place

I always loved their set up of having mostly vegan food with meat eater choices as the side. Wish more places took that approach with at least vegetarian food.

So many memories both good and bad associated with that place. Consistently able to find Pliny there when it was harder to get, watching dodger games, hoisting my tiny drunk friend out of the bar by his belt loops after he tried to light up 2 cigarettes inside, good times

Tbh I think the location has a lot more potential than what Mohawk Bend was doing with it. Hasn’t been good in a long long time

People were hoping Figueroa Mountain would do a good job after taking it over last summer.
Looks like they didn’t.
Maybe Tony Yanow was smart to sell it off from the Artisanal Brewers Collective?
Anyway, Figueroa Mountain bought several other places from ABC:
* The Stalking Horse in West LA
* Broxton Brewery in Westwood
* the former Bluebird Brasserie space in Sherman Oaks, which is supposed to be converted to Figueroa Mountain LagerHaus. They originally announced the location to open in 2022. It’s still closed.
It’s making me wonder: Did Figueroa Mountain expand too fast? There were concerns about that said by several beer pundits last year.

Massive, beautiful space. Would be cool to see it converted into a music venue or something.

Ah man this was always my post-tattoo beer spot. Sad news.

Hasn’t been good in a while in my view. My last two meals were notably bad, same with service. Same thoughts from others I know.

Meh. Beautiful space but pretty mid restaurant and bar. With so many better options around, I can’t say I’m surprised or upset. Hopefully something better replaces it!

This pretty much marks the end of the Warby Parker craft beer hipster bro era in Echo Park.

I went back for the Baked Potato Pizza and watched parts of a Star Wars marathon at the bar. Tbh it was a great memory to leave this place on.

Kinda crazy how many of those first-wave-in-LA craft beer spots are gone now…Mohawk Bend, Sunset Beer Co., Blue Palms, 1739 Public House
