This liquid came with my Korean BBQ dish. What is it? Smells… interesting.

    Probably dipping sauce. I agree with the other comment, it could be sesame oil with salt.

    It’s probably diluted fish or anchovy sauce.

    I pour that sauce on my Korean bbq before grilling it or I’ll dip the meat after cooking with it and it’s so good haha 😆

    By your description of it smelling like feet, I’m 99% sure it’s diluted fish sauce. Sesame oil wouldn’t smell like that. It definitely looks like fish sauce too with the drippy sides and condensation. I’m Viet and it looks very much like nước mam that accompanies many Vietnamese dishes. Why it’s served with KBBQ, I do not know.

    haha, based on your description and color, it might be fish sauce which is odd because i’ve never really seen fish sauce at a KBBQ place before.

    I would guess nuoc cham, but that’s usually more of a southeast Asian thing
