i was cuting a potatoes that was not bruised and compeltly normal inside but soon i cut half those black spot started to appeared, they are kinda soft and doesn’t have smell.

    Looks like it is the condition called “hollow heart usually caused by too much watering or excess rainfall that causes them to grow rapidly. You can cut the black part out and eat the rest of the potato. But I would probably not eat it lol

    I keep hearing that this year wasn’t a great year for a lot of different crops. I’m not a farmer, so I have no first hand knowledge of this, but I’ve seen it mentioned in several places. That being said, I’ve also heard this called “hollow heart”, and I’ve seen it before with store bought potatoes. I just cut around the black stuff and use the rest of the tater, it’s still good. Not much different than cutting away bruising on the outside of it.

    I agree with you totally. A friend who worked in restaurants told me they wouldn’t waste that potato and use the whole thing, dark part included. “It’s not gonna kill you, and what customers don’t know won’t bother them.” One reason I’m very careful what I order when I eat out.
