People who were bummed when Miltos Pizza Pub closed in 2017 after 40 years may still smile when they walk up to what’s there now.

KababZi moved in a few years ago, more recently they renovated, repainted, put up new signage. And yet the Miltos smooch logo is still painted on the front door!

The place is now called KabobZi & Phoenician Resto-Cafe, an ode to the owner’s former Phoenician restaurant off I-35 in South Austin.

Grabbed a falafel bowl today ($12) and checked out the upgrades. Exterior is a different color, there’s a bar inside and some new furniture.

The cashier said people still come in and ask about Miltos all the time.

My son, back when we lived in Hyde Park would lose it when I said I was going to get a pizza from there. Everything there was good. I miss Miltos so much. I’m sure the new place is good and has a different type of food but when it closed I was so sad. There and Little Italy on Mesa were so good for home Itilain. Miltos was the superior. It was so depressing when it closed. There are some restaurants I miss and that is one of them.

Milton’s was our date spot in College. miss it.

  3. Milto’s was so good, but I think around 2015 they changed their sauce recipe and it was much sweeter. Seemed like maybe they were cutting corners on ingredient cost.

Isn’t Kababzi is the new location of the Phoenician resto cafe that used to be a block off Rainey on East Ave? That place was super good. Haven’t been to Kababzi yet

Miss Miltos. Back in the ’80s when my wife worked at UT in the tower, we would visit often.
