I recently returned from a trip to Mexico and brought this Molcajete back with me. I tested it in the store (ran the pestle around the rim and the center a few times) and got a distinct Smokey/Sulpher smell.
Now that I have it home and I am about to cure it l, am questioning it’s authenticity. Don’t want to serve concrete filled salsa alongside my homemade tortillas at my next fajita night.
As you can see by the photos, I put water in it and it held at the same level for an hour before I poured it out.
A knife does not make a cut into it when ran over the edge, but leaves white lines.
What do you think? New molcajete or expensive flower pot?
