Creamed Corn Cornbread
Recipe courtesy of Alton Brown
Total: 35 min
Prep: 15 min
Cook: 20 min
Yield: 8 servings
Level: Easy
Ingredients
2 cups yellow cornmeal
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 cup creamed corn
2 tablespoons canola oil
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet into the oven.
In a bowl, combine the cornmeal, salt, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Whisk together to combine well.
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, and creamed corn, whisking together to combine thoroughly. Add the dry ingredients to the buttermilk mixture and stir to combine. If the batter will not pour, add more buttermilk to the batter.
Swirl the canola oil in the hot cast iron skillet. Pour the batter into the skillet. Bake until the cornbread is golden brown and springs back upon the touch, about 20 minutes.

mmmmm yeah??????? how creamy is it?????
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy approved ! that was good info
Sugar in cornbread is a crime against nature. I want cornbread not corn cake. Yuck!
I tried to add a comment to Adam Ragusea's video on cornbread, but gave up after several attempts kept going back to this video.
Two eggs?!!! There’s no eggs in cornbread. It’s not cake. Ugh 🤦♀️ you use oil, preferably bacon in the batter, and in the pan. Muttering to myself, eggs, 🤬
Butter better than canolaoil
Needs flour
Made this today, came out looking good, but taste-wise it's not to my liking. Abit too dry and crumbly for me.
Great video with so much info. Just bought a new pre-seasoned cast iron skillet and have a taste for corn bread. Thanks
In 2020 he's doing shows on his own and he says he can mention brand names because there not official Food Network shows. But this IS an official Food Network show and we can clearly see the brand name of the baking powder. What gives?
just made this, but without the cast iron pan, and it turned out perfect. Tastes great as well, thanks.
No bacon grease no corn bread, shame on you Alton. At least he used a cast iron skillet.
I followed the directions exactly. Came out looking perfect. I was all excited. Alas, almost no flavor at all. The butter gave it some taste, but pretty much disappointed.
I wish he'd given the muffin option.
Alton is my all time favorite!
Yum!
I wonder why he didn't use any fat for the recipe (butter, bacon drippings or oil)?
You still need flour
So sweet of u Alton dear👍❤️
How make this recipy without egg? P tell me Alton dear👍
Yummy.
It is nice preparation and very tasty recipe, I too love to prepare that, thank you Mr. Alton. Your cut throat KITCHEN is popular. some time I like to watch that, very nice program.
Bacon grease and no sugar
Alton Brown…..my all time favorite!!
I could watch this for hours
So no idea of how long to bake!?!?!?!?!?
Great recipe.
I didn't know you could do this without adding regular flour.
TMI ..😴😴
How did you not melt your camera in the oven also, did I miss the cook time?
Adam Ragusea before there was an Adam Ragusea
You’ve become much less pleasant.
Great recipe. consistency was perfect. Only problem, for my taste, it was bitter. Next time I'll add some honey.
Alton is great.
Ive downloaded this recipe. Now I need to go shopping.
WOW thank you making some NOW 😊 Rick …. Minnesota
How long do you bake it for.
What’s a good brand of cast iron skillets?
Thank you
I like Johnny cakes too
Why would there be a commercial with engorged ticks be on a recipe of creamed corn cornbread. The corn kernels look like those ticks!
This was hands down the best cooking show ever devised. Martin Yan was #2 and Emeril was #3. I miss them all! Alton for President! ❤ (😊)
you lost me at canola….seed oils kill people
