I usually put up 10-12 quarts of chicken stock every other month. This time, during the cooldown period right after processing, I heard a loud pop. When I opened it, I found 2 (out of 5) jars with their lids and bands [popped](https://imgur.com/a/HDvV0cu) off. I’ve never seen this before. Can someone explain what may have happened and how to remedy this in the future?
Jars: Golden Harvest
Lids: Superb
Bands: Kerr??
Canner: Presto

Either the rings were on too tight, or you had a fitment problem. I know of two brands which are not compatible with Ball/Kerr rings. It wouldn’t surprise me if you found that the rings aren’t quite the same thread.
Barring that, did you let the canner cool down slowly? It could be that your jars “bumped” during cooldown, which can be caused by cooling too quickly and causing the contents to spontaneously boil. Once the seal is broke momentarily, the pressure in the jar drops, causing more boiling, and you get a runaway effect.
