  10. I can’t find buttermilk in the stores here. I wonder why? I wonder whether this recipe would work with the milk + vinegar method?

  11. Where do you buy White Lily corn meal? On the Walmart website it's $15 for 2 lbs. I cannot afford that. LOL

  12. That is how I make mine too. What I was raised on. No White Lily where I live, so use Martha White. So very sorry for your loss.

My mom bought herself and I a matching leopard printed apron. I will forever cherish it. I call my mom a lot when I need help with Hispanic recipes.

  20. "Oh My Goodness", looks absolutely DELICIOUS 😋.
Valerie, I definitely will give this one a try real soon. I love ❤️ Cornbread and Vegetables ❤

  21. Instead of Crisco I fry up bacon and use the bacon grease to coat a cast pan and put it in the oven to get hot first then take it out and pour the battery in and stick it back in the oven till it's done.

  22. This looks delicious. I am a new subscriber too… thanks for this. I am learning to make lots of things now. 🙂

  23. Thank you for the recipe. I have been craving skillet cornbread for years. The last that I had was prepared by my great-grandmother. I don't cook or bake, but this cornbread recipe looks easy enough, even for me. I need to purchase an iron skillet. What size skillet would you recommend for this recipe? Thanks again!

  24. Let's see; cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and shortening are all in the mix. Might be dried egg in there also. It's been a while since I read the package.
