An eye-opening dip, condiment, appetizer from Greece that is made from fish roe, onions, potato and olive oil. That’s it. This is a wonderfully sensual, thick sauce that adds so much to most any dish- including grilled meat, lamb and chicken. To those of you who have never tasted taramasalata, it can be a life changing appetizer to dunk your flat bread into while enjoying a glass of wine or beer. Its simple ingredients follow:

3 – 4 OZ Bottarga or wet mullet roe
1 Small White Onion
1/2 TSP Garlic Paste or 1/2 clove garlic
Juice of 1 Lemon (about 1/3 C)
1/2 C Olive Oil
1 Medium Potato, peeled and boiled

  2. John, I just got up from the dinner table and I'm stuffed, yet your Taramasalata dish left me craving and drooling! I wish I could grab some mullet roe at the local grocery store… I wonder if crappie roe would work? 😉 This creamy dip is too delicious for my limited vocabulary of adjectives! Great job, tocayo! You got permission from Yanni to use this music? How did you ever pull that off? You've got connections! I love the video! All the best to you all down there at the Hacienda!

  3. Always pushing the envelope. Check out this weeks video on my channel, I gave you a big nod and used the Mango Habanero sauce you sent me. Rock On John!

  4. Beautiful looking dip John! The popcorn shrimp is a great idea to pair with that roe. Awesome job!
