I’m going to show you how to make the easiest artisan bread using the biga method. Biga is a type of starter that helps develop an amazing flavor and texture in your bread. It’s very simple to make, you just need some flour, water, and a tiny amount of yeast. You’ll be amazed by how crunchy the crust and how soft the inside of this bread is. Also it helps increase the shelf life of your bread

This bread is also healthier than regular white bread, because I use whole wheat flour in the dough. Whole wheat flour adds more fiber, vitamins, and minerals to your bread, and also gives it a nutty and rustic taste. You can enjoy this rustic bread with butter, jam, cheese, or any topping you like.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make this artisan bread:

For biga starter:

• Fresh yeast – ½ tsp. or 1-2 grams
• Water – 4 tablespoons (50 milliliters)
• Bread flour – ¾ cup (100 grams)

For the dough:

• Water – 1 cup (250 milliliters)
• Whole wheat flour – 1 cup (150 grams)
• Bread flour – 1 ¼ cup (170 grams)
• Salt – 2 tsp. (12 grams)

The steps are very easy, you just need to mix, stretch, fold, and bake. You don’t need to knead the dough or use any special equipment. You can watch the video to see how I do it, and follow along with me. I’ll also share some tips and tricks to make your bread even better.

Tips and tricks:

• You can use different types of flour, such as rye, spelt, or buckwheat, to create different flavors and textures.

• Use a proofing basket to shape your loaf and give it a nice pattern. If you don’t have one, you can use a bowl lined with a floured towel.

• Use a razor or a sharp knife to make a cut on the top of the loaf. This will help the bread expand and create a beautiful crust.

• Add some water around the bread before baking to create steam. This will make the crust crunchy and shiny.

• Cover the bread with another tray for the first 20 minutes of baking. This will trap the steam and prevent the crust from browning too fast.

• Tap the bottom of the bread to check if it’s done. It should sound hollow when it’s fully cooked.
