  1. Recently we went to the South in the US and had our eyes opened to a bunch of amazing new foods, but there was one thing that we really wanted to introduce to people back home!

So we got the help of a London-based cook from the South, and brought authentic Biscuits and Gravy to a British High School!

  2. Really funny how british people will think biscuits and gravy seems like a really weird idea but thst kid got almost offended by the idea that beans on toast could be considered weird like it actually is in literally every other part of the world 😂

  3. Imagine taking those kids out to Cracker Barrel. They'll want that restaurant to expand to the UK.

  4. Not a fan of gravy on any bread-like product, they just get soggy.

Agree with the boys, gravy is brown, this is a sauce.

The hands-down worst food I could never get down when in Louisiana, was grits 🤢

  5. So polite! Great ambassadors for their country! 🙂 A harder sell here probably would have been grits with butter, but I lived in Georgia for a time and came to love grits with bacon and eggs in the morning. Still make it at home.

  6. you really have to educate and put more context to what you are giving them. Now people think this is all American gravy and its not. Its Southern Gravy with Bisquits and its more down in the South. We have same gravy as England does the brown gravy.

  7. Just so the British folks know, Chik-fil-a, one of the best American biscuit makers is planning on opening 5 restaurants in UK in 2025.
Given that company was founded in the south and served sweet tea and biscuits, but I don’t think gravy.

  8. That was “sweet tea”, not just “iced tea” From a Southerner, bisquits and gravy , Southern fried chicken- Bojangles fast food!

  9. You could make an entire series on just Southern cooking. I would love to see how they liked stuff like jambalaya, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, etc.

  10. Love the kid who said “Let’s call it interesting for now..I’m not gonna make a judgment” with that mentality he’s gonna go far and experience so many different things!

  11. For the record, so the British kids know, we also have regular brown runny gravy that we eat on turkey and whatnot. The white gravy is pretty much just for things like these biscuits, and fried & breaded chicken steak, and fried & breaded pork steak (kinda like schnitzel). We eat brown gravy like you have in the UK for most other things that call for gravy, we like to put the brown gravy on mashed potatoes too.

  12. We also have beans and toast here, it’s just a little more common in the southwest, and in smaller towns.
