They came out pretty hollow, I think that means I over mixed? But they look great! I wish the buttercream had been more yellow.

    These look outstanding. … We have a patisserie in town. They don’t use buttercream icing, they use a light pastry cream. For theirs, a lemon pastry cream around the outer edge and lemon curd in the center. To. Die. For. Try making your next batch with pastry cream. Game-changer!
    (This is from a woman who thinks the purpose of cake is to hold up the frosting.)
