To start: I really like both octopus and oysters prepared with basically any method, including raw. Same with the sauces/flavors of both cans.
The octopus was a let down. I was expecting a more luxurious texture but it just didn’t meet my expectations. Flavor of the oil/sauce that it was in was good. I saved it for my dinner to dress some vermicelli noodles with peppers and vegetables. Froze a small amount to drop into soups. The tin was beautifully packaged and had a good amount of small pieces tightly floating around inside. Glad I tried them but won’t buy again unless I find a recipe to inspire me.
The smoked oysters? FANTASTIC! They had a great, meaty, chew without being gummy or rubbery. The lemon pepper flavor was strong but didn’t overpower the natural flavor of the oysters themselves. There was a decent amount of them really packed into the tin, too! I will absolutely repurchase these for snacks/boards/gifts.
