  1. Potatoes, milk and butter. Done. If you want to add sour cream on the side you can but no one I know mixes sour cream into the mashed potatoes. Not saying that’s not a thing, to each is own. I like my potatoes creamy and for that I add a shi* ton of butter.

  2. I’m using this for my mothers birthday dinner!
My brother’s gonna make stream on the grill and I’m making these mashed potatoes with crispy air fried carrots!

  3. If you need to put water in your potatoes, you are losing flavor. That the perfect spot for milk or butter. Otherwise, it’s my go to recipe. Just don’t use water…. That’s terrible…

  4. Objectively false. The best mashed potatoes need way more butter than you think and heavy cream. Don’t substitute, if you wanna do it good you gotta do it right.

  5. My mom does her mash potatoes this way— she just first mixes a packet seasoning dip into the sour cream first, then scoops it in. Everyone loves the sour cream mash potatoes !

  6. Hmmmm…. no butter… hmmmmm 🤔 I would be willing to try this recipe just to see what it tastes like, it does look good 😉 One could always add butter and thick cream later, if one had to, thanks for a different perspective!

  7. I've done this in a pinch before and I can confirm you are 1000% wrong. In what goofball dipshit world are you living in to think adding water makes potatoes taste better than adding butter?

  8. nah best recipe:
    1kg yukon gold potatoes
    250g butter
    250 ml milk
    few cloves of garlic.

    boil potatoes, pass through ricer.
Back in pan and dry out in pan medium heat for 5 mins.
Heat on low, slow put in butter mixing constantly
meanwhile boil the milk with a few crushed cloves of garlic in it
Stream in milk stirring constantly until smooth and creamy
Pass the final product through very fine sieve
    salt and pepper to taste.

Absolute smoothest, best mashed potatoes on earth

  9. I feel like im the only dude who doesnt really like extremely smooth mashed potatoes. Also really like it when they are mashed with the skins.

Garlic, roasted or not is a universal requirement as always. I tend not to roast my garlic as i tend to go a little heavy on it, which is good for me but not usually for guests.

I guess i just like a semi-chunky vampire repelling mashed potatoes.
