**** About Living Traditions Homestead ****

Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.

We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

  1. I am one of those people that rarely eats salsa…I like it but just don't eat it often. After the reminder of all the things I can make with it I might just can some. I do have that book and haven't even used it yet 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I think I might grow jalepenos next year…just one lol. Thanks for this video!

  2. It would be great to have the recipe in the comments section. Who is also be great if questions on this thread or answered even though they were a long time after the video was originally posted. I really appreciate the YouTubers who do that like Whispering Willows Farm.

  3. I have only been able to find the Bernardin canning book up here. It's a Canadian company and both type of measurements are in it. The Ball canning supplies are sold up here too. I just can't find their book. There shouldn't be a problem if I used this Ball canning book here I'm in Alberta. I can't see it being any different then if I lived in Montana. Alberta and Montana are pretty much the same elevation.

  4. How long to water bath for pint and quart jars? Can you please include that in your descriptions?

  5. I love the canning videos. It has been years since I did this and then not much. Im getting this book, I have a good stash of jars and things and now a bunch of peppers to pick. Hopefully this goes well!

  6. Oh my goodness, I saw this video for the salsa and I thought hey I can do that. I feel like it’s taking me days just to get everything chopped up lol. I’m doing it myself no help. I will throw it all together tomorrow. I’m dividing it into two and adding about 2 1/2 cups of peaches to 1/2 for my husband. I’m loving all of your videos. thank you! @smokymountainartisan

  7. I watched your demonstration on Zesty and Jalapeno Salsa – enjoyed it and want to make it in 2 days – you did not mention how long you boil the filled jars??? Please could you come back and tell me – many thanks.

  8. Gringo salsa recipes? Very different from my Mexican heritage. I was wondering why vinegar is used? Is there a canning specific reason for it? Also, why is the salsa being boiled, is that also a canning specific reason for doing so?

  9. Why does the salsa have to be hot?????? Thank you. Canning looks like such a hassle but I really need to learn how to do it.

  10. Oh my goodness. I have a WHOLE new appreciation for what you are DOING! I have never had enough tomatoes growing in my garden to make more than one good batch of spaghetti sauce for DINNER. I just made 6 jars worth of salsa and am exHAUSted! I didn't even water bath can them. I put the salsa in jars and put them in the refrigerator and am going to give it away fresh to my friends at work. I can't imagine also canning AND filming. I think what we don't see is the mess. The tomato juice running down the kitchen cabinets, pieces of tomato flying when chopping, and all the dishes to clean up. I am SO proud of my salsa though because it cleaned up my whole counter of tomatoes, from like 7 different varieties and is soooo colorful and delicious. I just appreciate what the homesteader canner youtubers are doing!! Whew! It will also get easier for me with practice, I'm sure.

  11. I ordered a ball new canning book and it is horrible. Small and has more meal recipes than canning recipes. Not good at all. Should have ordered the full ball canning book..live and learn!

  12. Where’s the link. See other links but not the recipe.. Also the part about scalding and skinning tomatoes first is not in the video. I watch you allot and am subscribed.

  13. My wife and I were looking at this video, and while the TV was playing in the background. We came across your 1st video. and then we started to watch the next one. Now let me say that we have been watching your channel for the last 3 to 4 years. This is the 1st time I went to the beginning. Anyway, the reason I'm writing is that I'm a Respiratory Therapist too. and my wife was a nurse.

  14. This video always makes me laugh when you start to say “6 cups of minced….nooooo not 6 cups” 😂. Some people would have edited that out, but I love that you corrected yourself and continued on. That’s what makes you so endearing. God Bless 🙏. Lorie 😊

  15. Thank you, Sarah. Three years ago, I saw your first video filming from your little homestead, and knew I needed to get back to my home state of Missouri. I'm here now and on acreage at last. My very first garden here is doing well and this year I will be canning tomatoes, salsa and jalapenos using your recipes and technique. You are an inspiration. May God continue to bless you, Kevin and the girls. I have never been happier to be home at last.

  16. You didn’t do any of the bath in your video. Nothing in the instructions. Water amount, time to leave in, what to look for to make sure it works.

  17. That's the book I use for my salsa recipe, it is the best. Lots of recipes that I want to try out too. I make enough for a year. Same with dill pickles, and beet pickles.
Nobody I know does and canning or sewing, or baking, all things I love lol.
