Ree’s Layered Tiramisu Cake is a simplified version of the classic Italian dessert. Frozen pound cake replaces ladyfingers and cream cheese replaces mascarpone, making it an easy option if you can’t get fancy Italian ingredients at your local store. Just make sure you allow fridge time before you serve!

Layered Tiramisu Cake
RECIPE COURTESY OF REE DRUMMOND
Level: Easy
Total: 4 hr 15 min (includes chilling time)
Active: 15 min
Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Ingredients

One 16-ounce frozen pound cake, thawed
5 ounces hot strong coffee or espresso
2 tablespoon brown sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste
2 cups heavy cream
1 ounce semisweet baking chocolate

Directions

Special equipment: a piping bag fitted with a wide tip

Remove the pound cake from its pan and line the pan with plastic wrap, leaving plenty of overhang. Slice the pound cake horizontally into 3 slices.
Mix the hot coffee with the brown sugar in a small bowl until the sugar has dissolved. Set aside.

Add the cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla bean paste to a large bowl. With a hand mixer, beat the mixture until smooth. Add the heavy cream and continue to beat until stiff peaks form. Transfer to a piping bag fitted with a wide tip and set aside.

To build, place one layer of cake in the bottom of the lined pan and press.

Spoon over a third of the sweetened coffee, allowing it to soak in. Pipe a third of the cream mixture over the cake. Grate over a third of the chocolate. Repeat the process 2 more times, ending with the grated chocolate. Loosely cover with the overhanging plastic wrap and chill for 4 hours.

Carefully lift the cake from the pan and remove the plastic wrap. Slice and serve.

  1. Thank you Ree and the great team at #FoodNetwork. It is a truly brilliant idea. For those of us who are not huge fans of tiramisu one can really take this any way you want. I'm thinking of chocolate pound cake with a cherry infused cream cheese for a 'Black Forrest' style tiramisu. Or how about a lemon curd with a lemon simple syrup. Adding whipped cream to the lemon curd would make a great summer version.

  2. If you are going to make an Italian desert as iconic as a Tiramisu have the decency and stick to the recipe and then mold it in whatever shape you desire. If not, then find a different name for whatever this desert is. Do you see us making various meals, something as simple as a sandwich with beef and then call it an American Burger ?

  3. There's something magical about your food. I appreciate your efforts; I was wondering if you could share a video of you cooking with KHAL viewers

  4. I am waiting for something healthy. All her receipes are with white bread and other unhealthy ingredients and she is not the only one Joanna Gaines does the same.

  5. This surely is nothing like a Tiramisu!
But it still will taste good I guess, it’s just heavily americanized i.e. much more fat and sugar added.

  6. This is a BRILLIANT VERSION FOR BUSY AMERICAN MOMS! Thx Ree! I appreciate you for sharing this version! 🤗

  7. I’m still stuck on the cream cheese. I actually like the idea but I have never had trouble finding mascarpone?? Fair enough on the lady fingers but mascarpone is hardly exotic.
