  1. The ATK folks can't seem to resist making Jewish recipes treif. They were so darn close this time! But meat fat and sour cream is a no-no for kashrut. Those of you who find this comment annoying but get frustrated when white people make other culture's dishes wrong need to take a breath, it's the same darn thing.

  3. Boy, does this take me back to my childhood. We didn't put onions in though, and we used a higher ratio of eggs to salted matzah. I'm craving this now.

  5. You can't use dairy in that, you used schmaltz. I've never seen it made with meat, it's usually soaked in a custard to keep it soft, just eggs don't absorb well in Matzo.

  6. I loved this as a kid because it had sugar sprinkled on top…so, no onions. Savory is good too. It was a thrifty dish so the rule of thumb was one cracker to one egg.

  7. I love more variety of textures when I eat, so I add milk to the eggs to make the batter more runny, but soak the matzo for a much shorter time. Additionally, I go in at high heat, to give the egg a chance to develop a slight crisp. I think it makes for a more interesting mouthfeel.

  8. I've had this maybe 10 times in my life with different accomplishments. I want to like matzo brei, and I usually like the first 3 bites. But I quickly grow tired of eating dressed-up cardboard.

  9. He didn’t not get the “just gonna” memo. Other ATK personalities have shifted and gotten away from ever other sentence containing “just gonna.”

  10. As someone who is Jewish, I think this is the most precise I've ever seen someone make this. It's normally just thrown together. Also, this is NOT a Chanukkah recipe, it's for Pesach (Passover).

  11. Oh, no! You can't use dairy to soak matzahs and then fry them in schmaltz! Are you kidding me? Seriously?! And then you put sour cream on top? No, no, no!!!! Never mix milk and meat in a kosher or even kosher style recipe! Oh, no!
