Homemade salad dressings far outshine any store-bought varieties, and Martha will show you how easy it is to make your own. She starts the lesson with a delicious shallot vinaigrette prepared two ways: whisked directly in the bottom of a salad bowl and shaken in a small jar. She also makes a creamy blue cheese dressing — just the thing for drizzling onto a wedge of iceberg lettuce. And did you know that you can make your own mayonnaise, too? Follow Martha’s step-by-step instructions, then use it to prepare the most delectable BLT.

  1. MS is the original of all demos and DIYs and I am a fan and have learned so much from your videos. Thank you MS! ❤️

  2. Great back to basics! I loved the aioli garlicky sauce with addition of saffron, that’s new to me. I normally make my own mayonnaise with whole egg in a handheld blender in 2 minutes. I add egg, vinegar/lemon juice, salt and spices and just add the portion of oil slowly. Put a stick blender to the bottom of the narrow container that a stick blender comes with, then hold to the bottom for 30 seconds to 1 minute then move the blender up and down motion and in less than 2 minutes I have great mayonnaise. I usually make my own this way to make egg salad sandwiches filling. I will try your egg yolk version next time, that would be tasty!

  3. I am so thankful for your online classes. I have wanted to learn the basics of cooking for decades and now I can. Thank you so much, Martha. You are truly a blessing.

  4. I make this exact vinaigrette recipe. One time, I thought I had an extra bottle of olive oil but I didn’t so I substituted in Walnut oil. My god that was a delicious accident.

  5. I don’t care if there are 1,000 other cooking shows, Martha still is and always will be the best. It’s always about the food, not herself. So professional and knowledgeable. We love you, Martha!

  6. Poor woman does not know what those seed oils do to the human brain. One of the leading causes of Heart disease Alzheimers is seed oils. You are literally putting holes in your brain by consuming these oils.

  7. I feel like all dressings should include sugar? I’m trying to make my own and they just never end up right with vinegar and oil alone

  8. Excited to try these recipes! Thank you Martha for sharing your many years of knowledge and expertise with the world. Over the years you have sought to enrich the lives and homes of your viewers with the highest quality content.
