Hello today I’m going to show you how to make a delicious apple crumble this is a perfect dessert for the whole family and your kids will absolutely love it this recipe will make enough to fill this dish so you will need four medium to large-sized apples peeled and roughly

Chopped like this you will then need about 150 grams of butter or margarine if you use butter make sure that it’s at room temperature so that it’s soft I am using margarine here you’ll also need 150 grams of flour you can use either plain or self-raising

Flour it doesn’t matter at all you will also need 50 grams of white sugar I’m using castor sugar as I like it to be a bit finer but you can also use granulated you will also need 50 grams of oats 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon half a teaspoon of ground nutmeg and 50

Grams of brown soft sugar so let’s get started the first thing we’re going to do is to tip the apples into a saucepan then we’re going to add approximately 120 mils of cold water I’m going to put the saucepan on a high heat to begin with and give it a stir

I’m now going to add the nutmeg and the cinnamon finally I’m going to add the brown sugar I’m now going to leave it for about ten minutes stirring it intermittently until the sugar has dissolved and the apples have softened once the apples start boiling a little bit you can turn it

Down to a medium heat so that they don’t burn meanwhile I’m going to make the topping for the crumble so I’ve got my butter or margarine in the bowl and I’m going to add the flour slowly not too much at a time in case we don’t need

This all and then I’m going to combine it using the tips of my fingers until all the margarine is completely combined into the flour this is still very sticky so I’m going to add more flour so as you can see here the pieces are sticking together quite nicely which means it’s

Too sticky still so I finished my hundred fifty grams of flour so what I’m going to do is add just a little bit extra now as you can see here my crumbs are much looser they’re not as sticky and they’re sliding through my fingers quite nicely which means I’ve probably got

Enough flour now so what I’m going to do next is to add the caster sugar so we’re going to throw that in just like that and then do the exact same thing and now I’m just going to add the oats and do the exact same thing combine it

Nicely if you want to add a few more oats that’s five if you want to add raisins or sultanas or any other type of dried fruit that’s absolutely fine as well so what we’re going to do now is going to check the apples as you can see they’re perfectly brown nice and soft

And smelling absolutely delicious so we’re going to take them off the heat and then pour them into the blue dish now we’re going to put the topping on top you now it’s time to put it in the oven so I’ve preheated my oven to 180 degrees

Celsius and I’m going to leave it in there for approximately 20 to 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and it’s set together so 20 minutes has passed and as you can see the top of my crumble is perfectly golden so I’m going to take

It out of the oven and serve it up look at that fantastic serve it with ice cream or yogurt or cream or anything of your choice don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for the next great recipe

  1. I was looking for a recipe where the crumble part was really good. (None of the top chefs really did anything that interesting) and yours is the best. I actually just made the crumble bit separately in the oven and used it in heaps of different ways.. Thankyou

  2. This video needs more attention. It's the best recipe for topping that I've found and it actually works. (So sick of videos with recipes that don't work but gain a bazillion likes)
