An epic sandwich with a flavor combo like no other with juicy Cuban pork, ham, yellow mustard, and pickles. One of my favorites! Here is my homemade version.

THINGS YOU’LL NEED:
1 loaf Cuban bread
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons yellow mustard or to taste
1 pound roast pork (Use my Pernil Recipe for this, or use Pulled Pork or pork tenderloin)
1 pound sliced ham – glazed ham is great, or your favorite deli ham
4 ounces Swiss cheese or more to your preference
4 ounces sliced dill pickles or to taste

Sandwich times my friends today we are making the ultimate pork sandwich it is the cuban aka el cubano so delicious it’s lots of pork ham swiss cheese pickles yellow mustard it is absolute perfection let me show you how to make it All right the first thing you want to do is get yourself a nice loaf of cuban bread and you can use italian bread or french bread for this recipe and those work just fine but really cuban bread is outstanding use it if you can find it

So i got myself a good sized loaf here and i’m going to cut it in half and then we’re going to slice it open you can layer up the whole thing if you want to slice it in half or slice it into pieces bites are on sandwich size

Pieces if you want to just really what you can fit on your grill or on your grill pan so set this aside and go ahead and just separate the bread into top and bottom pieces all right just like so and i have my bottom and my top here

So next go ahead and get some butter spread across the bottom part of the bun and i have about four tablespoons of butter you’re gonna use about half the butter for this and the other half will be for putting on the outside of the bread

So go ahead and slather it on you can use more butter if you want to it’s a very buttery sandwich makes for a deliciousness all right just like so and the next step is mustard yellow mustard is pretty key to this recipe you can use other mustards and i’ve made it

With other mustards but yellow mustard is super traditional and if you’re not a yellow mustard lover like some people don’t like yellow mustard for some reason this recipe will absolutely convert you because a cuban is perfect with yellow mustard so go ahead and just spread it out onto your bun here the top

And you can use more or less if you want to really uh if this is more to preference all right next we have pork and uh for this particular uh sandwich today i’m using pulled pork that i that i smoked this weekend but really roast pork is pretty

Traditional any roast pork like pork shoulder pork uh pork loin is actually really great for this recipe as well kind of more traditionally like puerto rican pernille which is a puerto rican roast pork super delicious but pulled pork anytime you got leftover pulled pork or go ahead and make pulled pork

Just for this sandwich recipe it’s so good so go ahead and layer it on nice and thick and for this whole whole sandwich you’re going to use about a pound of pulled pork it’s a very meaty sandwich get it spread out nicely like so look at all that pork yum

Next is sliced ham and you can use deli ham for this recipe or you really just kind of any any sliced ham is great glazed ham is awesome for this and for the the whole recipe calls for a pound of sliced ham deli ham but really um you can it’s another one

Of those things where you can use as much as you want and again this is a very meaty sandwich deliciousness and we also have swiss cheese swiss cheese is very traditional for this i’m using some sliced cheese about four ounces overall for the entire recipe but

Again go ahead and add a little bit more cheese if you want more cheesiness yummy looks good huh huh and pickles i have some uh some these are sweet dill pickles but hot pickles are awesome here and uh this is another one where just as

Many pickles as you want to have on here they might start falling out but that’s okay we just uh love pickles pickles and cuban sandwiches cubano it is ultimate perfection my friends lots of pickles here lots of pickles mike quit eating the pickles all right got my sandwich assembled here

Go ahead and top it up and look at that it looks amazing already doesn’t it deliciousness and the last step here is to go ahead and grill it up or sear a pan’s here this is really a pressed sandwich so i’m gonna get a grill pan nice and hot and we’re

Gonna press the sandwich up and get eaten and before i get my grill pan heated up i’m going to go ahead and butter both sides so we can get a nice nice delicious browning on the bread All right i’ve got my grill pan nice and hot and i’m gonna go ahead and set my buttered up sandwich into the pan like so and we’re gonna press press it down so uh this again this is a pressed sandwich cuban is a press sandwich and there’s a few a couple different ways

That you can actually do this i’m doing it this way it’s easy to do and it’s easy for you to see but you can use a panini press or some kind of a grill press those work great sandwich makers or you can also wrap your sandwich in aluminum foil and

Get it nice and pressed on a grill or lay something heavy on top of it and you can serve it in the foil i’ve actually had it that way a few times in cuban restaurants like in florida for example but again this is super easy to do and

Just just keep pressing until it’s nice and toasted all right give it a flip yeah really need a few minutes per side anywhere from four to six minutes or so and press press it ooh hot sandwich all right let’s get this baby served up oh yes

All right so this here this is only half the loaf of cuban bread um and you can see like this piece alone will cut into two really good sized sandwiches so the whole loaf will make four really large cuban sandwiches or you can cut them smaller and have a smaller uh like six

To eight smaller cuban sandwiches for pretty much however you want to serve it but let’s talk about variations really quick you can easily use different cuts of pork for this recipe pulled pork is great roast pork pork pork loin is actually very good as well and different cuts of ham and you can

Use other cheeses and all that but this is really more traditional with swiss cheese lots of yellow mustard pickles such a beautiful combination but there’s also another version that’s very popular with salami so you can add salami to this and there’s actually a friendly rivalry between certain areas

Of like which version is better but i like it with and without salami so i will take it any way i can get it so all right let’s cut this up all right cut and open the cuban oh yes oh look at this sandwich oh yes

There it is my friends cuban sandwich so perfect ultimate perfection if you guys are looking for another epic sandwich you gotta check out the muffaletta sandwich that is so good it’s like oh cuban muffaletta anyway i’m gonna eat this one now so time to give it a taste

  2. I love sweet pickles!! I would love to find some sweet dill pickles! Yrs ago found some candied dill pickles but couldn't find anymore,just found them short period of time!

  3. Why people don't like yellow mustard? Because it is not real mustard. It is sweet condiment only children eat because real mustard is to strong for children under 3 years of age.

  8. Just found your channel and too have watched dozen or so of your vids. ..not bad.. First comment. When I make this sammie I use a heat proof brick wrapped in foil, works like a champ. If someone ever says they don't want anything for X-mas give them a heat proof brick. Trust me best gift ever! Quite a lot of fun too!

  9. Sorry to tell you a real Cuban sandwich does not have salami in it this sandwich is traditional Cuban not Italian also Swiss cheese no other cheese should be used a Dill pickle not sweet pickles so you are going to get a thumbs down on the video my friend !

  10. I like to do it traditional, I add yellow mustard the same way, but then I just do a very light swirl of stone ground on one half( I don’t want it on my entire sandwich).
