Hi everyone and welcome back to Anns Family Recipe it’s my favorite time of year the month of October or ctober as it’s referred to in this neck of the woods anyway today I’m sharing with you three easy and tasty dinner ideas that you can make in your slow cooker I have

Tons of crockpot recipe videos on my YouTube channel so I’m going to link to all of them in my description box below there’s chicken chili there’s my favorite sausage and tortolini soup amazing flavor there there’s even some dessert recipe ideas so make sure after you watch this video you check down in

My description box below for even more delicious recipe ideas if you’re new to my channel don’t forget to subscribe and give this video a thumbs up and let’s get Cooking I had never tried making a meatloaf in a crock pot before and I wanted to so a lot of the recipes that I found online recommended lining the inside of your crock pot with foil and then spraying it just so that nothing sticks and also it’s easier to remove

The meatloaf when it’s finished cooking for my meatloaf mixture I started with it was about 2 and 1/2 lbs of 8020 ground beef and then to that I added in Italian seasoned bread crumbs so these have a little bit of dried herbs and like garlic powder in them I think um

Which just gives it a little extra flavor so I added in one cup of those seasoned bread crumbs along with two eggs to help bind everything together and then for seasonings I added in I had about a teaspoon left of minced onion I would have added in more like a

Tablespoon my kids don’t really like when I dice up an actual onion and put it in they don’t like that texture but the minced onion gives it a good onion flavor and then I also added in some garlic powder salt and pepper and a good Splash about a tablespoon of wish to

Shear sauce which adds a nice savory flavor to the meatloaf mixture then I like to use my hands to incorporate everything together and then I just transferred all of this into a loaf shape into my crock Pot comment below do you prefer a ketchup based sauce or a gravy with your meatloaf I grew up with ketchup so I decided to make a little ketchup based topping for this meat loaf just to add a little extra flavor because usually if I’m baking a meatloaf in the oven I wrap

It in bacon which gives it incredible flavor and just adds an extra layer but I did not want to put bacon in the crock pot because I knew it wouldn’t get crispy on the outside so for this sauce I used probably a half a cup of ketchup

A heaping tablespoon of brown sugar a little bit of garlic powder and onion powder and then a splash of wish air sauce and then stirred that all together and then I spread that evenly over the surface of my meatloaf Then I put the lid on and set my slow cooker for 3 hours on High I wanted to double check that my Meatloaf was fully cooked through so I just inserted a meat thermometer really quickly after 3 hours and it was over 160 grease so I knew it was fine inside even though I had that foil in there to easily transfer that Meatloaf onto my

Cutting board there was so much rendered fat it was going to be a mess so I grabbed my turkey baster and just use that to remove some of the excess drippings that were in the crock pot and then I could more easily transfer it without things spilling everywhere onto

My cutting board and I sliced into this it was so tender I really thought that making a meatloaf in a crockpot would have a wonderful texture and it definitely did it was so tender and moist it had had great flavor retained a lot of the moisture um something that I

Really like is that a lot of the fat renders out when I bake my meatloaf and that fat starts to burn and smoke as the meatloaf is still cooking and that didn’t happen here in the crock pot but I do highly recommend this technique it was easy had great flavor and

Texture next up I’m making a super cozy version of chicken and dumplings so I’m starting by preparing my vegetables I’m peeling and dicing up two big carrots and then one small Onion I sprayed the inside of my crock pot so nothing would stick and then added in two and 1 half Frozen boneless skinless chicken breast I season these with some salt and pepper and then I use garlic powder parsley and Thyme for some extra flavor I also added in a couple of bay

Leaves now you could also use about a teaspoon of poultry seasoning and if you have Sage or Rosemary you can throw those in with the individual seasonings whatever you have in your pantry just to add a little extra flavor to the dish next I prepared 1 and 3/4 cup of chicken

Broth and I’ve shown this before I like to use this chicken base that I get at Sam’s Club a little bit goes a long way there’s really rich concentrated flavor here so you just need about a teaspoon or two added into some hot water and then you have some chicken broth and I

Mix this with one can of cream of chicken soup now I will say the chicken base is not low sodium so thinking back I probably wouldn’t have added any additional salt when I was seasoning the chicken because the end result was a little bit salty but not unbearably so

But I think the original recipe called for low sodium chicken broth and I wasn’t thinking when I added this chicken base along with salting my meat so that’s just a little note I have here I added in the onions and carrots and poured the liquid over top of the

Mixture and then I covered my crock pot and set it on high for 3 hours After 3 hours of cooking I used two forks to break up the chicken breast a little bit I didn’t completely shred it I wanted larger chunks of meat throughout the broth and then I added in a half a cup of frozen peas and some biscuit topping I also removed the bay leaves at

This time you probably only need one but mine were all scraggly broken up so I thought two was the equivalent of one nice bay leaf just so you know for the biscuit topping I just used store-bought jumbo Buttermilk Biscuits popped it open and then I quartered each

Biscuit with scissors then I took each little piece and rolled it into a ball and then placed those evenly over the top of the chicken mixture I put the lid back onto my slow cooker and cook this for an additional hour on High this dish made my whole house smell amazing it was the perfect dinner for a cold and dreary fall day it was very comforting and I actually really enjoyed the texture of the biscuits on top the soup underneath had great flavor and when I served it up I just sprinkled a

Little bit of parsley over top as a garnish and everybody really enjoyed this one the final dinner I’m putting together in my crock pot is Kil basa with potatoes and green beans I’m starting here by dicing up one onion I doubled my recipe because I wanted dinner for two nights this

Particular week so I purchased two one and a half PB bags of these baby yellow potatoes I thought using a smaller potato would be nice because I wouldn’t have to peel any of them you could definitely use regular baking potatoes though but I think it’d be better if you

Peeled them just texture-wise these baby potatoes get nice and creamy as they cook so I really like them in this dish I quartered these and sprayed the inside of my crock pot and then added the potatoes and onions into It next I diced up my kobasa sausage so like I said doubling the recipe so I used two whole sausage links and I just cut these into about 1in pieces but you can make the pieces larger or smaller whatever you Like next I added in one bag of frozen green beans you’ll see in a minute I do add two bags I’m really testing the limits of my slow cooker here but before I added in that second bag of green beans I added some seasonings so some salt garlic powder and black pepper and

Then I did add the rest of the green Beans lastly I added in three cups of chicken broth I just poured this all over the top put the lid on and and set this on high for 4 hours at about the halfway point so 2 hours in I made my best attempt to stir this together a little bit just to get

Those seasonings mixed in then I put the lid back on and let it finish cooking so here are my final thoughts on this dish first of all the house smelled great second of all my kids really enjoyed this in my opinion it was a little bit Bland but it worked out well

Because that actually made it quite kid-friendly one of my kids separated the kabasa out and dipped it into ketchup another one made it into a Kil basa sandwich I added some black pepper to mine and served all of them with a side of applesauce I think this would be

A great dish to have to serve a crowd for an October Fest theme get together I dipped my sausage into some spicy brown mustard and it tasted great so this was definitely a crow pleaser and very very easy to put together thank thank you so much for joining me here today in my

Kitchen for some cozy crockpot recipes happy crocktober everybody

  1. Great recipe ideas Anne! I think I might add a tablespoon of dijon mustard to the kielbasa recipe and perhaps some dill.

  2. All looked amazing last one we have been making for 70yrs my Oma made this I a big pot but she added a splash of vinegar, and we called it Mittag meaning one pot great cold weather dish. 👍❤️😋

  3. The meatloaf looked delicious. I wonder if it would work if I put wrapped potatoes on the bottom as a base and then the meatloaf layer.

  4. I’ve never had any topping on a meatloaf. I have only ever eaten my mom’s recipe for meatloaf. I never even seen it made any other way but my mom’s way. I was actually grossed out when I saw someone had a ketchup topping on it. I actually asked her why did she ruin it. 😂 Like I said, I had never seen it any other way but my mom’s way.

  5. We aren't big fans of crockpot food actually, but these all did look good. I am especially curious to try the meatloaf recipe as it did look so tender. And yes, the ketchup based topping is the best in my opinion too😊😋👍

  6. Good afternoon! I remember the days when my kids were young and my oldest was my picky eater it was so hard to get her to eat anything. I am so surprised she even made it! 🤪 we seem to enjoy more foods as we grow older. Everything looked scrumptious. I hope you have a blessed day! Happy Fall! Wendy🧡🎃🐞

  7. Love meatloaf in the crockpot! Genius idea, will definitely be trying that. I use chili sauce to top my meat loaf.

  8. All awesome recipes. We are having the kielbasa potatoes and green beans for dinner tonight , only I am using smoked sausage. Thanks for your recipes!

  9. I like to switch the sauce for meatloaf. Makes it More palatable to have regularly. Instead of getting bored of having the same meals.

  10. I've done meatloaf in the crockpot so many times. I use a foil pan that fits in the crockpot. I usually buy a 3 pack and make 3 up at once, 2 for the freezer. Cleanup is a breeze, altho ots not quote as easy if i throw potatoes in around the pan.

I drain fat out of the poil loaf pan before serving.

Another advantage of the loaf pan is making it easy to freeze…i defrost in the fridge overnight. And if I forget to put it in the crockpot in the morning, it's also oven ready. Any meatloaf recipe works.

  11. I grew up with a ketchup based sauce on top of my meatloaf, but as an adult i love to top mine with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce 🙂

  12. Sir, I program my key fob and it doesn't open trunk and the trunk lid is original,2001 Ford Taurus. What could be wrong? Thank you

  14. Minced onion is toasty and really adds a depth of flavor to recipes. I love crockpot meatloaf!! I top mine with BBQ sauce. So good!! Great video!! I have not had chicken and dumplings since I was a kid!! Yum!!
