Ingredients:
2¼ cups All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1½ tsp Cornstarch
¾ cups Melted Butter, 12 tbsp
½ tsp Salt
¾ cup Brown Sugar, light or dark
½ cup White Sugar
1 Egg, room temp
1 Egg Yolk, room temp
2 tsp Vanilla Essence
1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, extra few chocolate chips to press while the cookies are warm

Recipe Notes:
1. Properly measure the flour: Precise flour measurement is crucial for the best baking results. Always scoop the flour into the measuring cup and level it with a knife.
2. Use room-temperature wet ingredients: Ensure your eggs, butter, and vanilla essence are at room temperature for optimal results.
3. Why melted butter: Melted butter contributes to a chewy texture in cookies. However, avoid adding hot melted butter; let it cool slightly before mixing with sugars.
4. Egg Yolks: While eggs help bind the ingredients and create soft cookies, adding an extra egg yolk enhances their soft and chewy texture.
5. Use a large spoon: Combine the flour mixture with the egg-butter-sugar mixture using a large wooden spoon or spatula. Gently mix the ingredients; avoid vigorous stirring for the best results.
6. Don’t skip chilling: Cover the cookie dough with plastic wrap and chill it for at least 30 minutes to prevent excessive spreading during baking. For thicker and chewier cookies, consider chilling the dough overnight.
7. Portion the dough evenly: Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough evenly, ensuring even cooking and preventing some cookies from being overbaked while others are underbaked.
8. Baking guidelines: For soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies, bake them at the recommended temperature for 9-10 minutes. The cookies should appear set at the edges but soft and slightly doughy in the center. Additional cooking will occur as they rest on the baking tray for 10-15 minutes. Afterward, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. This keeps the cookies soft and chewy for an extended period.
9. Variations: Personalize your chocolate chip cookie recipe with cocoa powder, white chocolate chips, a mix of chocolates, nuts, oats, peanut butter, mint, coconut, or creative mix-ins like caramel, M&M candies, or chocolate chunks for endless delicious variations.
10. Optional: You can add extra chocolate chips to the cookies while they are still warm on top for an appealing appearance.
