Hi y’all this is Maddie from Maddie’s kitchen and today I’ll be making y’all some buttermilk biscuit from scratch and what I’ll be using I’ll be using self-rising of flour and please use that because it’s already measured out with the salt and the baking powder and you

Don’t have a you know worry about it and this like I said comes out perfect and here’s some buttermilk I’ll be using whole milk buttermilk that’s what I’ll be using and I also be using just a tap of sugar and butter 1 3 cup of butter

And make sure the butter is real cold and the buttermilk is very cold and also I don’t know if I said I used two cups of flour and this I didn’t have my a cup so I had to use a half a cup I’ve used four of these and I’m the first thing

I’m gonna do I’m gonna ship this flour I do it one time just ship it one time a little something oh sure my mama always did it I don’t know whether that happened or not but I always just shook it are you using flowers for cakes like

Cakes I think you do it by two or three times so I’m gonna get back when I get through shipping this I’m gonna get back with you and I also be using a third cup of butter and when you look on your butter this land of like you’ll see uh it

Already measured out for you and that’s easy so I’ll be using the third cup I’m cutting it down to a third cup of sugar took the paint off and what I what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna take these and put them in the squares so they can go through the flower

Put these in squares I should have come the way a little square this butt is so cold and it’s hard to come up at night and you can put this in your phone together and you also can use a pastry cutter uh but I’m gonna use my hand or Fork I

Think it goes better I see most people like I said I never cook biscuits before this will be my first time and I see most of them using their hands to incorporate this button to the floor until there’s two cups of flour this one third cup of butter

Okay I’m gonna cut it up and we’ll put it in here I’m gonna show you how I’m gonna work it it’s like picking up you want to use all this butter put it in here these coat and make sure like I said the butter is cold yes I’m

I’m raking this up with my hand take my gloves so I could have used it but my hands are clean make sure your hands are very clean and uh break it up like this using your hands it’s the best way the pastry cut is okay but just make sure when you’re doing

This and make sure that the butter you can turn your flour around with your hands and make sure the butter is in there I don’t know what this does but that’s what they say it makes I know what it does it’ll make them fluffy they said mix the biscuit real fluffy when

You do it like this so I’m not going to break up most of this and when I get it back like I want to I’m gonna add my buttermilk and I I got my buttermilk in the refrigerator so I can stay cold you know stay cold because

You know sometimes now this butter is really cold that’s why it’s turn your flour around when you’re working it like I say make sure your hands are real clean you do it I wash my hands so much I wash them before I put the gloves on you know I

Just have to do that okay it’s almost ready and I get it quite when I get it like I wanted all the butter is mixed with the flour then I’m gonna get back with you okay I got my butter like I wanted to in

The um in here in my flour the third cup but I got to mix it I just put a little tap of sugar I should have put this in before when you’re all doing it just put it in with the uh now I got to work this in again

Okay and what I’m gonna start with uh my uh one cup of buttermilk make sure it should come out even I don’t want to pull all this in here at one time because I don’t know sometimes you know you measure it and you might not measure as good as you think you

Measure so I’m gonna take this right here and make sure I get this together well enough I can pull all this I can tell that someone needs some more of this and y’all bear with me like I said it’s my first time making buttermilk making any kind of biscuits really I’ve seen

People make them and so I just hope I think I can do it because I am if I see somebody to do something I can kind of do it it’s coming out pretty good I know one thing they say you don’t work it too much you know you know just working to

Get wet and I clean my countertop when I get mixed through mixing this up I’m gonna take you know I’m taking a a That’s my kind of top of flour get all this might listen that I need just a tap muscle like I said definitely want all of it to come in

There so I’m gonna take this you want it kind of like this I know he said that together the flower in here when you get it like this and I’m gonna dust my uh kind of top with this hand right here and uh this and put this in there make sure you

Kind of the top of the cling will always keep mine clean but just make sure it’s clean yeah you have to use your hand make sure your hands is clean too so I’m gonna take and put this on here get it together I gotta say put it on the flower

Gather turn it over coming out pretty good I think I’m almost got it like I said this is my first time y’all y’all bear with me and I didn’t have a biscuit cutter so I used uh I uh yeah basically I’m using a glass

That I think would be the same size as a Vista cutter so I’m gonna turn this over I’ll work this in here this seemed like I got it I know you’re gonna fold it I know this I saw unfolded they said when you fold it you get those

Layers I’m not that interested in layers myself you know I like mines to be kind of fluffy some people like the layers I’m not you know it’s okay turn it again I know you have to keep shaping in a rectangle way and keep turning make sure you thing is floured

It seems like that’s easy I should have known it was easy I was kind of afraid to make this good at one time so I’m gonna turn it folded again and work this in there and a rectangle shape and I want this to get an inch Fold It Again the opposite way

I’m not using a rolling pin away I think I want no they did it about eight times so I followed out directions because they should know what they’re doing okay I’m gonna fold it this way they said the more you fold the more you get your layers pull it one more time

And get a square kind of dust this again match this and get it smooth even so I can make my biscuits I want this about an inch I don’t want it too small okay I’m gonna take my this little pan is my best pan it don’t look the best

But I think it would be it don’t stick so I’m gonna rub some butter in here some melted butter okay and what I’m gonna do now I take my uh like I said I only had um one uh size of it see like the size of a

Bit so I’m gonna take and put in some flowers see them do that and then I’m gonna take them that looks pretty good I just hope they taste I know they’re gonna taste good ain’t too much stuff I ever cooked that didn’t taste good ain’t breaking y’all

Can I heard them so when you put them in the pan make sure they touch again okay I’m gonna take this I see I’m gonna take this apart and I’m gonna set these biscuits into this pan and make sure they say they touch I should get about six of them in here

As they said that helps them to stay fluffy I don’t know we’ll put this down because I did good so far I don’t want to mess up in the end you know put this one in here that the size I want them so that’s full down trying to get

I’m cutting let me cutting the stove on y’all let me see I forgot I’m putting my stove on 450. so if you hear that noise I’m sorry Force these hands off a little bit okay three try to get three more out of here and get kind of raggedy after why you

Have to get your dough smooth back out I guess if you wanted to look pretty Not that hard cooking biscuit y’all don’t be afraid just if I can do it first time doing it anybody can okay let’s see if that’ll work I don’t know I ain’t gonna push that one they look too good about me just wasting my time size of a biscuit

Biscuits let’s say I didn’t come out when I put them in the oven like I said I got to let the oven um get hot for uh I’m gonna clean up this mess and let my oven get hot to 450. I’m gonna get back with you all

Okay my Biscuit’s about ready to go in the oven my oven heated to 450 and when you’re cooking biscuits that’s at 18 to 20 minutes and that’s what I’m gonna do I’m gonna cook it from ATM and look at it in 18 minutes and I’m gonna need to
