We mentioned earlier Christmas day is long gone but for some families the Christmas Time festivities continue 12 days after December 25th a lot of families around the world are celebrating three King’s Day or the Epiphany and food is a very very important part especially the sweet food

And that’s why Claudia is showing us how to make one of her favorite Christmas time sweets let’s take a Look the 12 days of Christmas are set sadly almost over but in many Italian American households like my partners Christmas isn’t over until the last canoli is gone and since we don’t want Christmas to end we’re making a giant batch of them like a lot of Italian

Family Recipes these canoli are a Russo family staple handed down many generations probably three generations I want to carry them on to uh kids of my own so they can pass it on to their kids dad and son teaching him the recipes but all that sweetness doesn’t come by

Easily it’s a lot of hard work so let’s get Mixing put some work into it you’re not stirring good enough start with the milk all right just pour it all in there though yep pour it slowly though he’s adding the milk to start making the canoli cream we’re going to add some of the ingredients add some uh

Sugar and then we’re going to add Italian cinnamon sticks Mr stir help the salad here Mr stir and we’re going to stir that until it starts getting thick while he stirs I will have a little drink get ready to start stirring now the key with the stirring

Is once that starts boiling you got to be real careful cuz it will shoot up so you got to be real careful mixing the milk mixture is not the hardest part but it can take a while you’ll keep mixing and mixing and mixing muscle work oh my wrist is

Fine and just when you think it will never boil that smell good oh yeah smells like cinnamon toast crunch in around want you start adding the corn starch you’re going to do it like a gravy but you want to get it like thicker like Pudding slowly adding cornstarch until the mix thickens it’s more like a pudding now mhm plastic wrap sits overnight and then it’ll be ready in the morning so we’re just transferring it to a mixing bowl so we can mix it well now we’re going to mix it for about 5 to 10

Minutes and we’re going to add the chocolate to the to the mixture as it mixes and we’re going to start adding it a little at a time my least favorite part of the entire process is stuffing the canoli that’s why I brought my canoli stuffer with me to help me

Out stuffing the canoli is not too hard it’s just a little messy it is very messy take your mixture and place it into a Ziploc bag then squeeze into the canoli so you just take take it and try to try to get in towards the middle this is

Satisfying they pretty and there you have it the russos Christmas canol so we should all we should all do the honors I think we deserved it all right ready little musty m um that crunch you know hear I was going to ask you you heard it but uh Claudia

Where are they we need to try them they look good there’s still time to bring it Claudia okay come on down hopefully we’ll see that later in the show but before that cuz we’re just getting started
